Either the drive belt broke or the brush froze up. In order to fix the belt you will have to take the brush off, so it would be a great time to clean it. Clear all debris as best you can from the brush. On each end there is a plastic piece that holds it in the vacuum. Spray some WD40 between the plastic piece and brush at both ends and turn by hand to be sure the plastic piece moves freely. Reassemble being sure the belt is put on properly. If you find this solution to be helpful, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you. Thank you, Paul

Did you remove the brush and clean the plastic ends and spray with WD40? Turn them by hand to be sure they move freely.

Turns out there's a secret filter located under the colloection container. It is sponge rubber and needs periodoc cleaning. A dirty filter causes overheating, then shuts down the brush motor.

    Thanks for all your help...............................

SOURCE: The rotator brush stopped turning. it turns fine

The brush roll will only spin when your handle is not in the locked upright position, once the handle goes upright - the brushroll de-activates

Brush bar stops rotating when I recline the upright part beyond 45 degrees. Brush bar rotates but if I move the machine too far away, increasing the angle it stops. All cleaned out etc

There is a switch in the ball which is activated as you pull the handle back from the upright position. The lever that activates the switch pivots as the handle rotates backwards. Try to determine if this lever could be broken or mislocated somehow..

Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

Suction stops when vacuuming with the DC40 model

There may be a clog where the air flows from the brush roll into the vacuum

My Power head on my Dyson Animal DC39 will not stay spinning. Suction Issue?

There should be a red insert on the right-hand side on the cylindrical bulge behind the brush cylinder. Check that this is moving when you push the button. The red insert should stay pushed in for the brush to rotate. The insert moves in an out as well as rotates in order to lock in the 'in' position. Mine is a little sticky on the rotation and I need to shake the brush head a little in order to get it to rotate and lock.

Floor level brush stopped rotating after it caught

Look at the bottom and check a thread of carpet isn't wrapped around the brush, if so try pulling it off or carefully cutting it off. You'll probably see a collection of fluff etc above the brush that's stopping it from sucking up, pull this out, or it just may be that cause the brush isn't working its not picking up.

If the motor on the power brush is running the belt is bad, if the motor on the power brush only runs when you push the overload, the overload is bad.
