Re: dvd does not work
Have you tried replacing the ribbon cable that connects the dvd RW to the motherboard in your computer?....they sometimes fail;that could be a cause...worst thing i can think of is somehow your connector on your motherboard may have come lose, or shorted.... also, check to see if the dvd RW is recognized in your BIOS...if you need instruction how to boot into BIOS, please ask me....

1.Make sure you have the software installed correctly (Try Nero, Roxy, LG Burner)
2.If you do, then choose the right options depending what you want to burn (data, music, file, iso)
3.How old is your Burner? If it's really old, Then probably you need to buy a new one.
4. Try www.newegg.com / this website have really affordable DVD-RW sometimes as low as $15.99
from the model number that you gave it shows that you have a burner. try going to were the music folder is at and right clicking with your mouse on the music and hit the send to option then select your cd rom as a destination then it will burn it this way as well. also make sure you have cd-rw disc dvd-r disc will not work for this
Yes it is a common problem with Dell machines. Try right clicking on the icon in My Computer and selecting 'eject' If that does not work then just buy a new one and install. It is a straightforward job. just make sure the jumper connections on the new player are set the same as the old one
DUE you're going to work with graphics files you need a good HDD (capacity) 500 GB will be great Memory at least 1GB and above Processor 3.0 Ghhz and above DVD Drive (any double layer) Sound card (on board is enough), however you can improve later adding a new one, but you don't need that) Good Graphics card (At least 256 MB)
For thing like DVD burner drives, Windows XP/Vista offer universal support, meaning that it won't matter that you own a Dell computer, you can buy any DVD drive and it will work.
I recommed the following for $51. It also comes with software to support burning DVDs, just in case your current software does not offer this feature. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106248
Load software9 install). I.E Nero ( my preference) or Roxio or something similar. Your Drive must be an actual DVD Burner -R or +R/ RW. buy the same kind of blank DVDs that go with the drive.
Example. ( DVD-R/ RW) would mean you need to buy DVD's that are -R, ( DVD +R) you would need +R dvd's. Go to wallmart and just ask for someone in electronics to get the ones you need.
get into the program and its usually self explanitory, theres usually options to " Create DVD VIDEO, DATA DVD,) If you want it to play just like a DVD Movie, you need to first have the DVD movie on your PC in a some knd of recognizable format. Nero is good at converting it easily but they also have advanced options as well. If the software has a WIZARD mode, i suggest you use it as WIZARD mode is the user friendly version that cuts out all the advanced options so as not to confuse newbies.
Now if your trying to Burn a DVD straight from a DVD, bassically Copying a DVD movie, which is Illegal but im sure you know that and you would never do that right?
Well lets say you need to, Most DVD's have copyright software that prevents you from copying them but new programs and plugins can get around that. You can try using the " exact Copy feature " in Roxio but it may or may not work. now if your looking into copying DVD's that are copyrighted, i would suggest you study it yourself as explaining it online takes a long time. Your better off downloading it from The Pirate bay dot com, already converted and just burning it to disk. Ths of course is still illegal and i dont encourage this in any way;)
