Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.
A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click
and click on Properties.
Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under "Service
status," start is selected.
If that does not work, let me know.

When i turn on my 04 taurus. It starts makin knock sound , i replaced my lower intake n i think i missplaced the spark plug wiring

If the spark plug wiring is not correct, the engine will misfire and that will create erratic combustion, which is a shock to the cylinder, which results in a load harsh noise. Locate the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributor cap and trace each wire to the spark plugs. The firing order will be listed on the intake manifold. Make the correct wire to spark plugs attachments as needed.

The sound from my tv will not play through my surround sound.

Make sure that you have your receivers input selector to the correct input that you plugged your tv into. Try plugging the tv output into the working input that you have for the dvd. If the tv still does not work, and you are using a working input, then clearly, there is no workable signal going into the receiver. In tv menu check the audio output format.
Some tv sets output their audio signal in digital format. If you plug that into a receiver with an analog audio input it will result in silence.

CANT GET 5.1 SURROND SOUND TO WPORK

I'm not familiar with this system, but I can suggest the following:
Make sure the speaker jacks are plugged into the correct holes.
Make sure (in the control panel) that the sounds are correctly configured. If you tell the computer that there are only 2 speakers, then you'll have a problem. Be sure you subwoofer is powered up and connected correctly.
Most all problems are caused by "operator error." This usually results from an improper connection.

No sounds on my speakers

1. Power to the speakers (make sure they are plugged in!)
2. Make sure the speaker line is plugged into the correct port on your sound card. The connector should be green and possible the port will be green to.
3. Double click the little speaker in the bottom right of the screen (assuming you are using XP/VISTA) and make sure nothing is muted.

Post back with your results.

No sound

Check the Power to the speakers, and that they are correctly plugged into the PC. Sometimes a cord gets bumped and you don't realize it. If both of those are good, then go to System Devices and make sure the sound card is showing that it is working properly. Try head phones and let me know what results you get from that. Thanks!

Sound

Check the control panel and see what your default sound device is set for.

Do you have a third party sound card like a sound blaster plugged into here?
