Question about Microwave Ovens
Not sure how your compactor problem ended up in the Microwave category.
Does your model have an on/off switch? Normally you can only operate the start knob if the on/off switch is in the on position. This is a safety system. You can have a look at the assembly diagram for different sections.
I don't think there is any resemblence with the dryer but the unit is highly mechanical with chain drivers and power screws.
You should check out the start switch and the on/off switch for operation.
