You don't say what batteries you are using. I believe this camera takes AA batteries, which come in many capacities. The best batteries for high drain applications are not single use alkaline cells, but high rated NiMH rechargeables. See if a pair of 2700mAh rated ones last longer than what you have been using.

It's a hardware issue. If it is still under warranty, bring it to the nearest service center.

This camera is using up the batteries too fast. There is something wrong here.

What type of batteries are you using?
I have only found ONE battery that is worth buying for a digital camera, any make or model. I've always had HP cameras, but my last purchase was the Canon A1100 IS. It is amazing, but all that power makes it hungry too.

I have had nothing but success with the BLUE Energizer LITHIUM batteries. They run about $5-6 for a two-pack or $10 for a 4-pack at WalMart. We get an amazing amount of shots out of these. The only time I totally drained them quickly was when I took several movies. I always date the batteries with a sharpie to see how long they last. I regularly get from 1 month to 3 months, depending on the quantity of shots.

Other batteries, even alkaline, are useless. I tried the Duracell copper tops, and got maybe 8 shots before they died! : P
So, we now only buy the blue energizers, with no regrets at all!
(And the neat part? Those blue batteries have more juice left after your camera too. Once they are not powering up the camera properly, they can be used in other things that take AA, like small flashlights, etc, and it can still power those items as well. We have a beard trimmer that I never have to buy batteries for - I just use the used camera batteries and we get even more use from them.)

Truly, I am a loyal BLUE Lithium fan for life.

Hi there please reset the camera 1st . THen pair your battery with your camera. Go in menu then battery type option. Select the type of a battery. After that save the setting. Now try . If you face the same problem then the camera internal power transformer are damaged or week. So you need to replace that transformer after that it will start work properly. You use that camera so long, that's why there is a chance of that damaged. Thanks if its helpful then rating me.

Hi,
This is not a common/generic problem for this camera, we need to be a bit more creative into it resolution.
I am assuming that you have already checked for accidental 'power on' of the camera prior to reporting it. By accidental power on, i mean that as this is one of those semi-pro dslr cameras you need to make sure that the power is turned off before you replace the lens cap as otherwise you can mistakingly leave the camera on while the covered lens will show nothing on the lcd/viewfinder display.
Check the time it takes for you to charge your battery. It should take a minimum of 5.5 hours to charge the battery fully. If the charging light on the charger turns off before then, continue charging for the next couple of hours. Try using the batteries again. Also, please note that temperature is very important both during usage and charging. As per Sony, the optimum charging temperature is 25 degrees C or 77 degrees F. In colder areas, battery power runs out extremely fast.

Battery life

The rechargeables are only meant to last a couple years maximum (pretty good that you got three out of them). Also rechargeable NiMH's have approximately 5 times the power of standard alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries should only be used in emergencies in digital cameras as they will only last for a short while before they are drained (as you've discovered).

The obvious solution is that it's time to consider purchasing a new set of rechargeable NiMH batteries. Look on the package for a power rating of at least 2,500 mah. Avoid batteries that do not list the power rating as they are generally inferior batteries.

Batteries

Most digital camera's drain batteries quickly due to the power required to operate them. You need to carry spares if you are going to use them a lot. You can consider using rechargeable batteries if your useage justifies this i.e how quickly would you recover the cost of buying the charger against the cost of replacement batteries. Otherwise is just something to live with.

Digicam problem

Is it rechargable batteries (orignal for the camera), or are you using standard batteries? (AA/RC6 kind of batteries)

If you use AA batteries (or similar) make sure you use alkaline batteries of a good brand. Cheap batteries ofteh don't have the power to run digital cameras. Especially using the LCD screen drains the batteries.

If you have a new rechargable battery and it last only a short time see if using it and recharging it a few times helps the bettery "getting into it". If not, your camera may need repairs.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10 Battery Leak

It sounds like a short in the circuit board. Not worth getting fixed unless you find a local person. but first try puting a set of lithium batteries in. sometimes those last forever even when other batteries last less than 10 shots.
other wise try takeing the batteries out whenever you are done and see how long they last that way. then you will know if it is a short if they last a long time.

Hope That Helps,
Caleb
