Open Question

Installed new Hard drive on my HP Designjet 5000, getting BOOT ERROR. From what I can gather there is an operating firmware that needs to be on the disk. Unsure where to go from here. Any advice?

SOURCE: change boot sequence for HP L2000

Hi,
You need to enter BIOS at startup. The correct key to press will be displayed at the bottom of the black screen when you bootup. Usually, F10, F8 or F11 or Del. Mash them all on booting up.
Now navigate the Bios settings with the arrow buttons and select cdrom as 1st boot device with the enter button. Then Save and Exit.

Fixya!

SOURCE: New HDD inserted into Pavilion ZD7000 - will not boot from XP CD

Try your old HDD in it and see if that works. If it does work then nothing is damaged except your DVD drive/Controller. Try putting the new HDD in another computer, installing windows then putting it back in the HP. If all else fails then flash the bios with an updated image and see if that rectifies the problem.

The printer does not have a hard drive. Will it work when I plug a new hard drive into the formatter and turn the printer on? Can the driver or firmware be loaded on a blank hard drive?

The answer is.... NO. The hard drive must have an Operating System on it to recognize the printer's firmware first to identify it and then software to make it work for you.

Installing a new blank hard drive in a DesignJet

The hard drive is the formatter in the T610.
HP has a special operating system software loaded on the hard drive, so you can't just format a blank one and install it.

The whole formatter assembly will need to be replaced.

Unfortunately I had a similar issue with an HP A0 printer. The Hp 'Engineer' could not fix it. The hard drive had failed and there is a complete new hard drive with software loaded available but only through Hp.

Red light comes on nothing ells

The Designjet 1050C Plus does not need the hard disk drive to boot. When only the red light comes on, the firmware ROM is probably missing. Open the small panel on the back of the plotter to access the memory and ROM slots. If the FW ROM and memory are missing, you will need to buy them to make the plotter boot. They can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-654-designjet-1050c-1055cm.aspx

How to install New firm ware in new hard disk printer hp designjet T1100Ps

When you installed the new hard drive, was it purchased from HP as the hard drive for the T1100ps, or did you install a generic hard drive like for a laptop?

HP uses a special formatting on their hard drive with its own operating system with the latest firmware already installed (not windows o/s), so just installing new firmware will not work...the plotter must be on and in a ready state to receive the firmware update.

I have problem with plotter hp designjet 500 ps, error 79 : 04, error with blue ink...

A 79 error most often indicates that you have a problem with the firmware for the printer. Go here and download the firmware update that corresponds to the operating system that you have installed on the computer. Follow the directions that download with the file and you should be printing again.

HP Designjet 1050C Pluss - Error Code Question

Hi there only can try.
This is a firmware error, meaning your f/w simm is probably bad. You can try reseating the simm. It is behind the small panel in the back of the plotter, that is held on by 4 torq screws. Reseat all the simms that are present and see if that helps. If not, you probably need to purchase a new firmware simm.

Also try looking at
pulling the JetDirect card and then re booting it
