Question about Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Motherboard

1 Answer

Blank screen at boot up

Today when I booted up my gaming computer I noted just a blank screen. Did not see the bios loading nor windows booting. I have tried re-seating video and cable connects with no success. I bought a new video card in hopes it was the card but again same issue. One note if I hit the reset button I notice the fan on the video card goes to max and the system does not reset.

Equipment is as follows:
Intel 775 dual core 2.2
8800 GTS 320mg or the new card 9800 GT
Abit FP-IN9 SLI Mobo

If I can provide more information please advise thank you,

T.J.

Same issue. Fans and video card spin up, but nothing on the monitor.. no bios splash screen or anything. Blew the dust out of my system, remounted CPU and RAM and got the darn thing to boot again, but now freezes after booting to windows. Fresh windows xp install did not solve the problem. And now after crashing will sometimes lock on checkdisk!! tried an old motherboard and everthing worked fine.. so i will be sending this back to abit for replacement.

Sounds like you need a new motherboard how old is his computer but, before you start looking for a new board try resetting the main board jumpers maybe that will get it to work and if there are no jumpers remove the battery from the motherboard this does the same thing.

Samsung r40 not loading xp

If the computer boots in to safe mode fine, you more than likely have a virus or spyware interfering with the boot process.

Windows also could have corruption on it.
Insert your windows XP CD and boot the computer, you may need to set your boot order in BIOS so tht CD is first.

Once the CD loads Run the recovery console Select 1 for the C: drive if it asks for a password this is generally blank or will be the password on the "Administrator" account you see when you boot to windows in safemode

Once in the recovery console do a chkdsk /f command
This is will check for errors on the disk and can fix a lot of boot issues
I would also suggest typing the command mbrfix to replace the master boot record.

If it still will not boot you may need to reinstall windows xp

Acer 7720 will not boot

Do you want to try and see if a 'Linux LiveCD' boots? This is the way I test if the computer works. You burn this CD to a disk, and then boot off of it when you're computer starts. I will not modify anything on your computer as long as you go to 'Try Ubuntu with out installing'

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to install anything, just see if it boots into the 'live environment' (means you are running it off of the cd) If this works, that means that it is only your windows installation is messed up, and a reinstallation of windows should work fine with a Windows install CD NOT the recovery cd.
