Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

Dell dimension 3000 showing the following LEDS on the back a-green, b-yellow, c-yellow, d-yellow, won't boot up.

If the Dell logo does not appear at all when you start the computer, unplug its power cord, press its power button for say 10 seconds to clear any power left to it. Next, try to disconnect all external devices connected to it, then remove the power and ide/sata cables to your hard drive and/or CD/DVD drives, remove all the memory and just reconnect 1 confimed working memory to the first memor slot. Remove any other cards like video card, or network cards, then remove and reconnect the power connection from the power supply to the motherboard. Reconnect the power cable and attempt to turn it on. If the back panel light code changes, try to re-connect the devices starting from the memory, then expansion cards and the storage devices one by one. After connecting each card or device, test the system to see which device may be at fault. If nothing changes, could be your power supply or mainboard and you may need to get the replacement for them. My dell 4600c monitor will only show a picture when i start or restart it with the monitor power button. it is only on for about 1.5 seconds each time.


If the tower power LED is a Steady Green and the Diagnostic LEDs on the Back are all Green then the monitor itself appears to be the failure point. See if issue occurs with a different monitor. If the tower LEDs are not all green, then reply with the indications

Dell Dimension 3000 Video problem


There may be a problem with your windows installation. Search Google for Hirens boot CD, it is a free download and should contain a live XP installation. When you turn on the computer tap the appropriate button to reach the boot menu, then insert the CD and select your CD drive. Once booted it should display a live XP.
Alternatively you may have your monitor set to an incompatible resolution. If tapping F8 won't display the advanced boot menu then try finding an auto setup on your monitor or change the resolution using the monitors controls. If the advanced boot menu does display then select low resolution mode.

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok


Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Often simply disconnecting the power cable, holding power button for 15 seconds, release power button, plug back in will work

Otherwise remove CMOS battery and perform above operation

Dimension 3000 won't fully boot with yellow light


Dell gives free tech support forever. If you are out of warranty, you pay the cost of parts; but they will give you the help you need. Just get the "tag number" from the cabinet before you call.

Dell wont start up


On the back of the chassis, there are 4 LEDs above the PS2 connections marked ABCD what do they indicate? During the boot process the lights normally flash on and off green, when the boot process is complete, they should all be green GGGG.

If any are Amber then they are indicating a power on self test (POST) failure. AAGG is bad memory for example.
