Question about Maytag MER5775Q Electric Kitchen Range

3 Answers

Hi, I have an Electric stove that stopped working. Code 50 appears Problem with the Maytag MER5775Q Electric Kitchen Range. I consulted FixYa 2 days ago and was told that the problem was the ERC board and it needed to be replaced. I followed your direction and received the part today and put it but I'm still getting the same code 50 and nothing is working. What options do I have? Regards, Fadi

I don't believe it is the power. This has been working for the past 5 years. How can the power all of a sudden stop working. It does not make sense.

    Folks,

The oven is clean and is not soiled and it was not in a cleaning cycle. It was working the day before (used it to boil water for tea), and then the following day it would not be working. In terms of getting an expert technician, well, I thought I was asking expert technicians. Obviously, if you are unable to help me, then I will have to get "other" expert technicians to assist.

F50 is the error code for a bad control board, however it also may be a sensor attached to it.. First suspect the Thermistor, and or Thermostat, that attaches to the Main Board. it maybe a really complex fault though that you will have to have it fixed and parts replaced by a local appliance/parts dealer near you. Really you need a service manual, I have had an unfruitful search, so you can troubleshoot the issues from the manual to isolate the exact issue and hopefully repair. it may be best to contact Maytag, and obtain a service manual from there.
Below is a link to generic service manual at this link below. http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=2838.0

Hello there

Since you have replaced the ERC board and that hasn't solved the problem, don't you think its time you bring in an authorized technician to look into the problem because it may be more complicated.

But most times,A heavily soiled oven may cause a fault code during a cleaning cycle.and all you need do is Press the "Cancel" pad, and allow the oven to cool. When the unit is cool, wipe away any excess soil, and restart the cleaning program.

The code 50 ? ( E 0 ) the things that will give you code are over temp/ door latch / est .. I would have replaced the tempt senor first as it tell's the EOC what is going on . and if it didn't correct problem then repl the clock . / now lets say that the clock is ok and so is the sensor . / fisrt you should ck the power at the plug and make sure you hove 220 . as if one side of the 220 is not working then the oven woill not power up . now if the 220 power is . then if you look at the red wire on the terminal block and follow it to the hi limit thermo and ck this . you may have found the problem . i would do this before i pur any more parts . mm hope this helps .

in looking up the codes for your model the only code that looks like 5 0 is F 0 code and maytag does say to replace the clock . but that didn't work so and i know your don't feel that after five yrs it could be the power . . i didn't ask what you were doing when it quit but if you were using the self clean or baking at a hi tempt . this would cause the hi limit to stop the oven . sorry i couldn't help you more . mm
