Sounds like the pilot light is not staying lit, provided you have one. The pilot light is used to keep the gas valve open by way of the thermocouple/switch. When the pilot light goes out the thermocouple cools down and shuts the supply of gas off to the water heater burner. It is not unusual for a thermocouple to go bad at which point it needs to be replaced. The thermocouple is the small rod that sits in or close to the pilot light flame. There is a small copper tube that runs from it up to the gas valve on the outside of the tank. This is where you control the temperature of the water as well as light the pilot light. If you are not experienced in dealing with hot water heater gas supplies, you should get professional help.

My Bissell model 1970 won't get hot

If you are talking about the water not getting hot, Your Bissell 1970 is not supposed to get hot. It does not have a heater to heat the water.

My Bissell carpet shampooer will not dispense water or cleaning solution, nor is the "flow indicator" spinning

most of the Bissell carpet cleaners that have the water heating feature stop pumping water at one time or another. Make sure the belt is still on the pump and if it is then the problem is probably in the heater core in the handle. Hard water deposits plug the tiny little water ways inside the heater core. Pull the heater core and take it apart and clean it with a strong scrub brush and I think vinegar works for cleaning I was told. I just use soap and a brush. Then flush all your lines with hot water. The cause is from hard water deposits or leaving the soap in the cleaner after you use it. Both will stop it from pumping water

Won't pick up water from the clean water side

I couldn't view u'r clip but it seems if the pipe is blocked try to remove the blockage by using a hose where you spray hot water and normal dishwashing liquid, through the pipe, to unblock it. Just do not immerse the whole machine in water! Because I do not know what machine you have. Good luck my friend!

My steam cleaner is not spaying water on the carpet?

I found that if the water is not hot enough it won't create the suction needed for the water to spray. If you have use it in the past it could be that the water tubing could be clod.

I have a Bissell ProHeat 2x, and I did something dum. I had some powdered cleaner that said it works with carpet cleaners-well I mixed it in-and the next time I tried to use it, nothing came out. So, I...

Heck yeah, give it a shot. Try running some water through it too- fill it up, heat it just to where it's hot and unplug it, shake it around and dump it out. Repeat. You might have to get a wire or something to go through and get the powder loosened between the boiler and nozzle, but if the stuff will dissolve in hot water then once you get it going a little it'll flow better the longer you keep heating it and putting new water it.

I say I think you should unplug it once it gets mildly hot the first few times because if there is a pile of the powder stuck to the side of the tank you may find that the tank gets very hot there and overheats/fails.

You should be able to clean the solenoid too, hot water is your friend.

Powerwash proheat

If the unit is spraying ok but your just not getting hot water you could have a defective heater even if the light is on. To test you would need to take the handle apart and see if the heater gets hot by touching it give it about 2 Min's to heat up but be careful it will burn you if it is working properly. Another thing to remember is that even if it is working properly the water won't be very hot especially if you put cold water in it to start out with. The best thing to do is fill it with the hottest water you can get from the tap don't boil it or anything but this will help. Is the unit spraying ok? If not then the heater may be plugged. Other than that, you should fill the tank with hot tap water, the the heater will only heat it alittle more, you won't really see steam.

Most upright steam cleaners like Hoover and Bissell, you put in the hot water, bissell does have a heater, but it only helps get the hot water a alittle hotter. But a model number would help.
