I have a linksys router model #: WRT54G that is not allowing me to access the internet. When I hardwire the computer from the cable modem I have internet access, but when I go through the wireless router I am not able to hardwire or grab a wireless signal that will allow me to access the internet. However, I show a connection to my wireless network that is 'very strong' to 'excellent' under my wireless networks, it just won't let me log into Internet Explorer. Please help!!
Hmm... this sounds more of 2 things. Firewall and security. Is this a new unit that you have? If not, i suggest you take a look at the settings of the WAP to ensure you do not have mac authentification on (if it's WEP, you will be asked for the encrypted key, and since you did not mention any of this, i assume it's more of a MAC filter setting, preventing you from connecting to the network).
Alternatively, you might wanna find out if you have the WAP's firewall turned on, preventing you from accessing the network (norton's 360 firewall is a pain in the a**). Also, as a precuationary measure, you might wanna update the latest image of linksys's WAP, to ensure optimal performace. Hope this helped. Thanks.

hi iv got a sitecom wl-143 wireless router and a phillips snb5600, both of which support wds, i have given both the routers te same ssid and they are on the same channel, they also have the same wpa2 key, one is a dhcp server the other should therefore pick up a ip for all computers connected to it. i have also added the mac addresses to each of the routers for the wds. how ever they will not connect. my computer connected to the second router (sitecom wl-143) sees the router as a gateway but it doesnt connect or give out ip addresses. any ideas?
