About 2-1/2 years ago I bought two Fantom GF500EU drives from Buy.com. This week one failed. I swapped the power supply cord (with a transformer at the plug) and the cord was the cause. Where can I buy a...

If you just type in the manufacturer and the model number in your search bar there will be a multitude of places to get parts for this unit. Try to avoid the top few "sponsored" sites.

When i turn on my fantom green drive the green light keeps flashing

If the light turns on (mine was blue) but the drive is not recognized on your computer desktop that most likely means the drive does not have enough power. This happened to me too, and I took it to a computer expert and he said the drive was not even spinning. So it was either the external power source that broke or the internal power source, the power panel that broke. I took it to a batter plus and tested the wattage for the external power source and it was okay so then i took the entire drive apart and disconnected the naked hard drive from the power panel. Then I purchased "SATA to USB" cables (runs around 10-20 bucks) and connected the naked hard drive that way to the computer and it worked. So the problem is basically that the internal power panel is not working, and i had 2 fantom drives that both had this problem and they both worked after i did what i just said.. so I think your drive has the same problem since the light comes on but the drive is not spinning. Take it apart, buy some SATA to USB cables and it should work.

Windows is not able to install drivers for Fanton Green Drive 1 TB External harddrive. Please help. OS is VISTA and file system is NTFS

Your drive is defective. I had the same problem with mine. It was still under warranty, contact there tech support department. They will walk you through a bunch of test over the phone. If you have to send it in , you have to get a ticket number from Fantom Tech Support before you send it back. Also, they want your power cord that goes with the unit to be able to bench test it. I had to mail mine defect unit back. . Fanton could not fix my Green Drive and I lost a ton of data, it was almost full 1000 Gig. After several contacts to their tech department, they did send me a reconditioned one.

Do not buy the External Green Drive it is a piece of ****. It has an inferior power cord. And the power is cut down to be green friendly when It is not in use. Not worth risking your data and files. All my other Fantom Drives have been very reliable.
Do not buy any WD External Hard Drives especially the Note & work books cubes. They are a complete waste of money and are guaranteed to fail and lose all your data. I have had six fail on me and their Tech Support & Customer Service is awful and non existent.

Fantom hard drive red light!

There are no drivers for this unit. It is a plug & play unit that is one of the worst Fantom has ever offered. Very unreliable and many power cord problems.

I tried for several weeks to find the drivers over the net and researched a ton before I called Fantom Tech Support. The number is posted on New Egg under the their Mfg contacts

First of all you cannot plug the USB upside down. it always will go only in one direction. as for the **** try right click my computer/manage and see if the disk is been recognised? if not you have a driver issue or a disk issue.

Won't turn on

If Windows is loaded, unplug the power cord and the USB (or Firewire cable). Turn the power on it. Plug the USB cable back in.

Make sure your drive isn't connected to a USB hub. There are connection problems with those.

Hi, the best solution for your problem is to go to the manufactueres website, check their sales page and locate a dealer near you. If as I suspect thee PSU is like most others you will be better off buying a new case with power supply. I have found the difference is only a matter of a few dollars. Regards mistyman
