Learn how to fix the Canon printer error 5100, and have your printer running again. ... Reset error Canon ...
I work with printers a lot and usually if there was an error code 5100, it had something to do with a timing strip. I try to explain it in the video and show how to remove problem and the error code will disappear. No magic! Try this fix:
error code 5100 means print head temperature rise error. In other word the print head is overheated. First, turn off your printer for some minutes (it recommended to take about 30 secs or more) and let it's cooled down. Turn on again. If the problem still persist, try to check whether the print head is good or not by comparing with another print head. Be carefully, sometimes this problem is caused by short circuitry inside the print head.
PLUG IT OUT FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS.AFTER PLUG IT BACK IN AND IF YOU ARE STILL GETTING ERRO MESSAGES CALL 2489921 OR 2849921 AND I WILL GET YOU SOME ONE TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.
5100 is a carriage error. check the timing strip for contamination (plastic strip about 1/4" in width). Check for obstructions.

I had the error code 5100 for my canon pixma ip6220d printer and all it was a pen in the track of the cartridges. I've been looking for that pen for awhile too. So I would say look for something in the way of the cartridges. Hope this helps everyone.
