F2 does not open bios

  • After switching on your computer, let the DELL logo appear before pressing the F2 key until Entering Setup is displayed on the screen.
  • Previous versions of DELL might require you to press CTRL+ALT+ENTER to access the BIOS set up menu.
  • The DELL laptops use the Fn+ESC or Fn+F1 keys to access the BIOS set up.

Hello, how can i turn off the numeric keypad. I am using Windows 98 and everytime I boot up, the letter that become the numpad, act as the numpad and a shortcut to open the browser... I don't know how this...

Hello, after booting OS WIN98 is NumLock set according setting in BIOS of the computer. Try to get into the BIOS (pressing a special key during boot - usually Esc, Del, ...) What key, it is often shown on screen at booting time (or in users guide to PC or its mainboard). Look into the BIOS, and do not change other settings - just set NumLock on start to OFF. Be careful - do not change settings which purpose you don't know / improper settings could cause PC not to start. If you are not sure, you have always possibility to leave the BIOS without changes - leave without saving. If you are sure, you have changed just the NumLock key status, select Save BIOS setting - of course.

Hi, i want to set up cd drive on first boot. How do i can access to setup?

If I don't know what computer you have It makes helping you more difficult.

Here are some options for different computers:

  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F2 button. - Most computers with Phoenix BIOS.
  • Turn on the computer, during POST hit the Delete button - Most computers with AMI BIOS
  • Turn on the computer, hit Ctrl+Alt+F3, Ctrl+Alt+Ins, or Fn+F1 - Older Lenovo.
  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F10 button. - Some Dell computers.
  • Turn on the computer, hit Fn+Esc or Fn+F1. Older Dell laptops.
If you tell me exactly what you have, I'll tell you exactly what to do ;)

How do I program my latitued lap top so it gors directly ine to the windows sart up , instead of having to enter a pass code to go thru the bios program. Once I eneter the bios pasword it will activate...

It seems that the Dell is not publishing the BIOS reset info online. You can try following the below steps once. ( Article ID: 184659)

During the initial boot of a computer the BIOS supplier will be displayed. If OEM logo splash screen is displayed, press ESC key to see the boot up information. Press the Pause/Break key if text displays too fast.

In the BIOS window, select Security tab and delete the BIOS password.

Hello i have got just a black screen on my acer notebook can you help please

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.

Acer Aspire 1800 Won't boot

I recently had Acer Aspire One Laptop with very similar symptoms: No screen, no lights (those that indicates activities) except Power button. I first thought the Hard Disk is dead but it's not.
I contacted Acer helpdesk in Australia and they have sent me a document with BIOS update and instructions. I did what it says and then the laptop is back to normal. Yours may have the same issue - need BIOS update. The Aspire One BIOS update requires a FAT USB drive with the updated BIOS and the BIOS Flash program, plugged it in, press and hold 2 buttons: Fn and Esc, then press Power button for a while.
You should seek Acer Support website. But you may need proof of purchase.

Hi,
assuming that you know the password. you enter the bios setup. usually F2-Esc Or Del.
whilst in the bios, search and change pages to find security setup, or similar. change password.
here you should find options to disable/enable or change the password settings.

if this solves your problem, please rate as Fixya.
