I have a nakajima AK-90 typewriter given to me. It has a correction tape below the standard black ribbon but I don't know what on the keyboard allows me to activate the correction tape. Can you help?

My problem is how to use the tape to correct a letter or word. For example, if I misspell "dof" for "dog" what steps using the keyboard do I take to erase the "f"?

I sent you an e-mail requesting clarification regarding how to correct a mistake (spelling, word, letter, etc). For example, do I hold the shift key down an strike the right key(s)???

I appreciate the prompt response regarding my typewriter. They were all very useful. Thanks very much.

Hi i do not know weather yours will be the same, but all we used to do is press the back space and it would automatically re-print over the letter, or on some other machines, press back space and then the mistyped letter, or backspace , then shift key then mistyped letter...worth a try..good luck hope this helps

hi no you either hold the shift key and strike the same wrong key to cover it, then press backspace to type the letter you wanted to type in the first place, or press backspace then type the wrong letter , then backspace again then type right letter..hope that is ok

Hi,

The slots for correction tape are at the ribbon carriage left & right. Install it by first attach the supply side (full tape) at the left and make sure the rough surface of the tape face toward the plate and attach take off side at the right side.

Also check the bellow links if it helps:-

How to get rid of wheel release

Remove ribbon, pull the lever at the R. side towards you, lift out the P/W, check for bent or broken spokes, check P/W area for debris. Try it without the ribbon and correction tape.

I recently received lift off tapes for my nakjima typewriter. We have no user manual. I cannot get the ribbon and lift off tape to correct my errors. Please help or tell me if I am doing something wrong...

The ribbon may be noncorrectable, the knob must be orange or yellow. The lift off may be very old, or not properly installed, the dull side must face the paper.

How to change the correction tape

There are two levers on the right side of the carrier for the typewriter and correction ribbon. The little red lever close to the front right corner is to release the typing ribbon. the larger grey lever on the right end of the ribbon mounting bracket releases the correction tape. Pull it to the front, and it will release the correction tape. Look welll to see how the ribbon is threaded through the spindles and behind the guides next to the platten roller, before you take the old correction roll off.

NOTE: When changing either typing or correction ribbon, you need to know that only one of the levers mentioned will release at a time. If you have released one, you will have to snap it back into working position and pull the other lever to release it. THEY absolutely will not both release at the same time.

Nakajima AE 800 will not underline words with new ribbon

Check to be sure the ribbon is fully down and latched, also be sure the L/O tape is not sitting to high and stealing the underscore.

Correction tape not working on this model

This T/W has 2 tapes a black ribbon and a lift off tape the L/O tape has to be a tack free type General Ribbon T355 or equivelent. It installs below the ribbon on the left and feeds to the right.
