I am using an IBook G4 with OS 10.4.11 Do I need to connect the IBook to the printer with a USB connection in order to set up a wireless connection? The instructions that came with the printer said I had to put in my network name and the network key ( WEP key, encryption key) which I took to be the Airport ID. If it is not the Airport ID, then I do not know what the WEP key is. I tried the password I thought I had for the network, but that didn't work. How do I find out what the WEP key is?

This is an airport extreme base station V5.6. There are several numbers on the bottom, none identified specifically as a model number. The S/N is HS4244PQQ4N

You probably need to enable SMB but it depends on your setup.

What operating system is the computer connected to the Canon using?

Yeah the Airport ID is NOT the wep key. In order to find out what the wep key is we'll need to access the router.

    What model is your Airport?

Check the bottom to see if it says a model number or type.

Wireless router configuration

If you don't already have a wireless network, you can use an AirPort base station to create one. To configure an AirPort base station, you connect the Ethernet connection to the WAN port on the base station. In turn, the base station creates a Wi-Fi (wireless) connection to the Internet. Consult the documentation for your AirPort base station for more information on how to set up your wireless connection. Once you have a Wi-Fi network available, use these steps to tell your Mac to join it:
  1. Click the Wi-Fi menu icon airport_symbol.png and select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  2. If prompted, enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Check "Remember this network" to have your Mac automatically join your home network.

How do I find the passkey for my router....I am trying to get my wireless printer to work and it id asking for my passkey and I don't remember any passkey?

usually the passkey will be found in the bottom of router, named as wep key...

you can log in to the router interface by typing the ip address of your router in any web browser, and you can find what is the password...

the ip address of linksys router will be 192.168.1.1

it will never change unless u changed the ip address of your router manually...

3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

Vista doesn't allow me to join a new network

Apple people don't know anything about how windows products work. You have to contact microsoft. There might be some conflictions with microsoft not being able to use that particular product. Vista also has a "Wonderful" new feature that makes it not be able to recognize any other computers on the internet unless they either have vista or download an update. This may have something to do with it.

Computer does not see the printer

I was told by HP that I could not use USB over a network. I Called Apple support and was hooked up through my Airport Extreme using USB. You want a better solution invest in a Mac. They have the know how and what they are doing. It's like comparing a Model T to a Cadillac when you tout PC's.

Xbox 360 wireless adapter not finding network

Hello Sir,

Reset your AX by holding a pin or pen tip and count to 20.
Plug Airport Express
Wait a few minutes

1. Open Airport Utility
2. Manual Setup
3. Airport Icon -> Wireless Mode -> Join a wireless network
4. Network Name -> Enter the SSID of your Linksys router
5. Choose the same wireless security that you are using on your Linksys Router
6. Wireless Password -> Enter the wireless key that is on your Linksys router.

In the Music Icon, you should be able to find "Enable iTunes"

AX will continue to blink for a bit, perhaps a minute, while it searches and connects to the Linksys Router.

Should turn green.

Good luck.

Have a new imac with leopard and it has a built in airport, how do i get the dlink on my pc to recognise it

To join an AirPort network:
1.
Choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Network.
2.
Click AirPort in the network connection services list and choose a wireless network from the Network Name pop-up menu. Enter the password for the network if necessary.
If the network you expected is not in the list, it may be a “closed” network and not be available in the list. Try clicking Other, and then enter the network name and password if necessary.
If AirPort isn’t in the list, click Add (+) at the bottom of the list, choose AirPort from the Interface pop-up menu, give the AirPort service a name, and then click Create.
