Question about Harley Davidson Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Desktop Telephone

2004 Fatboy IMy bike has 7000 miles on it. It has set in the garage for about a month without being started. I had to jump it off with a 12 volt car battery. The bike runs fine as long as it is connected to the extra baterry but shuts off as soon as the jumper cables are disconnected. Is this the voltage regulator?

The Battery and or Stator is bad. Just like on a car if you pull the negative cable off the battery while the car is running and it dies your alternator is bad.

Just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited 85000 miles, think the seller has rolled back the mileages, checked the compression all across equal 120psi. Please advise. Thanks

dealers work out average usage at so many miles a month to check if the speedo has been tampered with
a 12 year old car would have 149129 miles on the clock so to be generous 100000 miles or if used as a sales car 200000 miles is the ball park figure
the figure of 85000 miles equals 7000 a year well be,ow the 12000 the average car owner would put on the clock
the compression pressure should be about 40 psi higher to be a good motor
not much you can do about the speedo without proof but if it runs well and is in good condition, save your money until it starts to fade and put in a fully reconditioned exchange engine

Volkswagen cuts off how much does it cost

Whe it cuts out will the engine turn over without a jump? If it won't turn over until you jump it get a volt meter and check voltage at the batty once it starts. You should have more than 14 volts. If you have 12 or less the alternator is not charging

When I try to start my 04 fatboy it clicks but wouldn't start.

This could be your battery, even if it is charged to 12 volts sometimes they go bad and don't have the cranking AMPS needed to fully engage the starter drive. Try another battery you know is good or if you know how to jump it from another battery try that, if the syarter works you know it is the battery

I have a 2005 harley davidson fatboy and my problem is that when i try to start the bike it clicks really loud ?, the volts on my battery are 12.80, but when i put the bike on the 200 amp engine start it...

You cannot go by a volt meter reading to tell whether your battery is good or not. The battery will read 12 volts and still not have enough current to light a decent bulb on your bike. This is because the volt meter is designed not to load the battery down. You starter puts a tremendous load on the battery. I'd also avoid using the "boost" or "jump start" position on the battery charger. You can get a voltage spike from those things and take out some expensive electronics on your bike. Take the battery out of the bike and take it somewhere that can "load test" the battery.

Good Luck

Bike was running fine all week went to put bike in the garage the bike head lite would not come on and the bike would not start

your battery is dead you can recharge it with a 12 volt battery charger. you could also jump the bike with another bike or a car. if these two solutions aren't possible because you don't have the necessary equipment or whatever you can bump start the bike by pushing it (works best down hill and/or with buddy's help) hoping on with the key in the on position and shifting into 2nd gear and dropping the clutch. be careful and goodluck

Battery keeps going dead. i can jump start my bike and it remains running. I charged the battery correctly and it is still not holding a charge. do i need a new battery or is it the recitifer?

The first thing you need to do is test your charging system. The easiest way to do this is by using a digital multimeter with the setting set on AC Volts, start the bike and connect the meter to the battery, the meter should read between 13-15 volts AC. rev motor a little and watch meter to see if volts go up it should. If the volts rise then your charging system is functioning properly. If the volts are less than 12 volts then you may need to take the bike to a shop to have further testing done by a mechanic to see if it is the stator or regulator/rectifier.

I have a 2003 1200 custom it just clicks when trying to start, ive cked the battery & cleaned the battery cabeles on both ends ,if u just bump starter switch motor will turn over for a second but...

Do not use the 200 amp start mode on your bike. You'll mess up a lot of electronic stuff doing that. It sounds like your battery is bad. Take a volt meter and connect it to the battery. Red lead to positive, black lead to negative. Set the meter to DC VOLTS, 20 VOLTS scale. It should read just over 12 volts, about 12.3 volt usually. Now, hit the start switch and watch the meter. If it drops below 11 volts, your battery is bad. You say you had it tested. Did they just put a meter on it or did they load test the battery? Just putting a meter on the battery without a load on it tell you nothing about the condition of the battery. If your battery is over two years old, you probably need a new one. What you have an intermittent short inside the battery.

Good Luck

Fob on 2004 fatboy

The FOB is a security device that will help protect your bike. If it is far enough away (i think 20 feet) your bike will not start, Without the FOB the fuel pump will not run and the lights will flash on and off. When you come back to the bike with the FOB the bike will run normaly. So do not leave it with the bike unless you want it gone when you come back.

New battery on new bike,it kills the batterys in 2 days

Either you have a dead short in your wireing or your battery is not charging fully. Use a volt meter your battery will have 12 volts start the bike and it should read 13 plus then take it up to 2000 rpm above idle anyway it should read 14 plus. If you dont have these numbers then you have a stator or regulator problem or both. You may be geting a slight charge when running but not enough to keep the battery peaked out.

My 2003 FX35 won't start without a jump start. I would drive 40 miles home, turn off the motor to open the garage door, and the car won't start anymore without a jump start. Tested using a multimeter...

I think your battery is weak, where as it doesn't have the cranking amps when you first go to start it. What i would recommend is doing a load test on the battery to tell for sure if it is good or not. If you have an advance auto or auto zone near by, they offer that service for free, and if need be they will install your new battery for you.
Good luck!
