Question about Miele 24 in. Novotronic G851SC Plus Built-In Dishwasher

Open Question

G851 SC Plus started to trip GFI plug. Called Miele and they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the GFI was faulty. Unplugged from GFI and plugged into regular plug and it worked for a few days. Eventually stopped running. How wrong Miele was, it had everything to do with the dishwasher and not the GFI. It was only warning me a problem was coming. Appliance man came out, noticed water in bottom pan and order new pump, said seal probably gone. Came back, replaced the pump, put dishwasher together and started it. It drained and started to fill and then quit. He checked and there was water again in the bottom pan. Pump was not cause of original leak. He was lost as to where the water came from. To compound the problem the dishwater would no longer run. If you would hold the start button it would run but eventually that quit as well. Now no lights on panel. There is power to control panel and the float switch is working fine. If you push up on float the drain pump runs. Miele's answer is to send out another appliance man. What can I check further before throwing the machine out?

SOURCE: Miele G851 SC intake/drain light flashing

Hi Dadcar, Your main wash pump has seized (or stuck). Disconnect machine from power & water, Tip machine on its back. Remove screws that hold the bottom tray on. Remove hoses to main motor, remove electrical connections & remove motor (one screw that holds motor is actually on the outside back of the machine(you will see what I mean). Try to rotate (unstick) the motor (this can sometimes be done by spraying a bit of WD40 and trying to rotate the impellor with a pencil (careful not to break any of the fins on the impellor. If you cannot rotate it, then a new motor will be required. Replace back in machine in reverse to removal. Good luck...I hope the motor turns for you. PS Whilst you haven't used the machine very much, this in itself is a problem and can cause motors & pumps to stick, and seals to perrsh. Try to use the machine at least once a month. Kind regards

SOURCE: dishwasher stops after 10 minutes inlet/drain light flashing

I had the same problem on a 5 year old model. It was the main pump leaking from a perished seal causing the water protection microswitch to trip. This gives the symptoms you describe exactly. Parts cost from Miele was about £60 for a new seal. Fairly easy to fit.

How do I replace water inlet control valve on a Miele G851 SCI

there is a box on the end of your inlet hose that contains two solenoids. that is called your water proof system hose. when you try to start a cycle, that box should vibrate as the solenoids get power and try to let the water in. if it vibrates, but no water passes, you need to replace the hose. the only place to get one is through miele. 800 843 7231, press 0 and ask for parts.

I need to replace dishwasher hose part 05500330

I am not sure where you are located. The hoses for your model of the dishwasher are listed at this site. You may want to check which one it is that you need. it is possible the original part may not be available and you need to find the closest replacement.

Hi My dishwasher Miele G692 SC has the inlet/drain light illuminated. I have cleared the inlet and tap connection..... Any other suggestions before I ring Miele?

Have you checked the drain? On mine a small piece of broken glass had got past all the filters and had blocked the paddles of the pump - you have to release the spring clip and take off the top of the pump housing. Miele's seem very fussy about any blockages to the water outlet system.

You then have to hold down the start button to force a restart (cost me a call out to learn that) - but it is stated, sort of, in the problem fixing manual.

Water staying at the bottom of the washer. When i close the washer an press start the inlet/drain light comes on and nothing else happens.Miele G 692 SC PLUS

Your drain outlet is blocked , pull all the filters out and then check nothing is stopping the impeller from turning. You have to bucket out all the water first of course. It can be a toothpick or just some gunk,

Dishwasher problem Model number GSD2200LO1

No, he didn't do anything wrong. Swithching to energy saver setting only prevents power from going to the heating element during the drying portion of the cycle. I suspect that you have no power going to the dishwasher. Check the household breaker for the dishwasher. If that is not tripped (probably not) then your dishwasher power may be supplied through a GFI (ground fault interupter) protected outlet which has tripped. Look around the kitchen for GFI recepticles, as there may be several. Power may even be fed from a GFI from another room, such as a bathroom. Push the reset on all GFI recepticles you can find. You can purchase a small pen sized tester for under $20 which will show if a wire is carrying power without even thouching an actual wire. Pick one up at a hardware store to help see if power is reaching your dishwasher if you need more help.

I have a Miele G841 SC Plus Novotronic Dishwasher. The Intake/Drain light is blinking and it won't work. What do I do?

I had a problem where my G842Plus dishwasher would run through the prewash and then the intake/drain light would start blinking and it wouldn't work. There would be water in the bottom of the dishwasher. After cleaning out various items to no avail, we called Miele technical support and they told us to reset the codes and then keep trying it over and over until it worked.
Here is how we reset the codes:
  • Turn dial to stop/off
  • Turn dial to Normal Plus
  • Press Start
  • Press power
  • Then press the start button for one second and let go

Intake drain light flashing

1. Unscrew air gap which is on the counter-top next to sink.
2. Unscrew drain clamp under the sink which s connected to the air gap.
3. Use a wire hanger to push down debris clogging the drain.
4. Screw clamp and air gap back in place.
5. The dishwasher should work. Routinely clean out air gap every half year.
