There should be a reset button on it that you have to use a needle or toothpick to press...hold that for about 10-20 secs to reset it. Are toy sure the default IP is 192.168.2.1 and not 192.168.1.1?

Wireless Routers have more than one type of login. One is the router management login (ID and password), and is used to log into the router to set certain parameters, such as the SSID (the name shown for your wireless) and the wireless access password. The other type of login is the wireless access password, which you must use to connect a device to your wireless network. Most wireless routers have a way to reset the router management login to the factory default. If you know your router management login, you can use it to find or reset your wireless access password. Your internet service provider can help you resolve issues with your wireless network. Good luck.

How to log in to router

Open an internet browser, in the address area type in 192.168.0.1 (this is the normal address used by the router). Once the router access screen appears try usinfg the factory default login USER = ADMIN, PASSWORD = MOTOROLA.

If this does not work you can try using the reset button on the rear of the router to reset it's setting to factory default settings and try the above method again.

NOTE: If you are unsure about anything you can also try asking your ISP how to access the router settings. (If you received the router from an ISP). Otherwise use the manual at this internet location for more information. http://www.midcocomm.com/_files/files/SBG6580.pdf

Forgot my password for wireless router 660hdt password for zyxel 660hd

There are two different things. One is the Login/ Password to log in to the router user interface for configuration. Second is the Network Key, which you have to provide to get access to the internet. If you have forgotton the Network Key and know the login/ password, you can log on to the router settings and reset the Network Key.
In case you have forgotten the login/ password of the router,
ALL YOU CAN DO IS TO RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS
You may reset router to factory setting from the reset button on the back side of the router. It may be a push button or else use a paper pin to press the button for few seconds, the lights on the front would blink and the router would restart with factory setting. Please not that ALL SETTING WOULD BE LOST...AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE CONFIGURATIONS AND SETTING ALL OVER AGAIN
. Configuration may be tricky sometimes and you have to secure the network/ router.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I lost my access code

If you lost the wireless access key you can find it by logging into your router. Using an internet browser type 192.168.1.1 into your address bar. A login window should pop up. The default login is username: admin password: admin . If these do not work then you need to reset your router to factory defaults. If this does work then look for the place where you can change the key and change it. You may need to reset the router after this for settings to take effect but after that it should work.
To reset to factory defaults, look for a button on the back that says reset. Press and hold this down for 30 seconds. Everything should reset to factory defaults and you should be able to connect without a password.

When I type in the address http://192.168.0.1, a dropdown login window should appear. It doesn't. What do I do?

Not all routers use the same IP address for access. It's also possible that the IP address for your router was changed through its setup pages. You can try resetting the router to restore factory defaults, which will set the IP address back if it was changed. Press and hold the recessed RESET button on the router's back panel (you don't give your brand and model, but every one I've seen has the button on the back) for 10 seconds and release it. After the router reboots all the settings will be back to factory defaults and you can try logging in again.

If the trouble is that your router uses some other IP for logging in, this list may be helpful. Find your make and model and try the address and login information, and you should be able to access the router. You can also get help at the router manufacturer's website. Just follow the support or FAQ's links on their home page.

Reset and Restore the NETGEAR device to Factory Default Settings

Symptoms:

  • Forgotten/lost password to log into the NETGEAR device
  • Cannot access the NETGEAR device web interface

Resolution:

If you have changed the default password and have forgotten the password, you may need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings.

When a NETGEAR device resets, it goes back to the state when it was new - all information that was entered by hand is lost! Examples include critical things you need to get online, such as ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, wireless security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.

So, have your ISP information before resetting the router.

Naturally, if you moved to a new city, or if you bought a used router, the old information in the router may not be of use to you. Contact your ISP if you can't connect any computer directly to the Internet. Then, if there is a connection problem when the router is added, see No Internet Access Through the Router

Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panel

Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)

  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password.

If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.

  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.

For DGN2000 / DG834Gv5 Routers

To restore the factory default configuration settings when you do not know the login password or IP address, press both the Wireless button and WPS button on the side of the modem router for 5 seconds.

For FR314, FR318, and FV318

These routers require reloading the firmware in order to recover from a lost password. Download the most recent firmware from NETGEAR's Web site before proceeding. Follow the instructions in the manual.

How do i change my security access so no one can log onto the internet using my router

i assume that you have several computers connected to this router and you do want exclusive access to the internet.

easiest way to do so will be to assign exclusive mac address to the router, where routing will be allowed to all addresses but internet connection (wan) only on dedicated address.

before you proceed with changes, do modem/router firmware upgrade and then follow this link for detailed explanation with pictures:

http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&vw=1&articleid=3686&donelr=1

when connecting to the router from your browser:
1. router address is 192.168.1.1,
2. router range is factory set to start with 192.168.1.100,
3. router is factory set as DHCP server.
4. factory set login/password is admin/admin

if you find this short explanation useful, please give me your vote, thanx!

I am starting to install Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824 v2 I reset to factory settings. I have windows XP professional. The unit is powered, and connected to the internet. what is the next step?...

Once you have your router connected to your Modem, connect your computer to any open port on the router, and with your Web Browser, go to http://192.168.1.1 and log in to the router. Login is (default) login name is admin and default password is just a blank field. Once you have logged in to your router, go through setting up things like IP address (leave at "Get Dynamically from ISP". Same with DNS server --- "Get automatically from ISP". MAC address should be already filled in. Click Apply. You should be good to go for wired router use, and if you want to use it wirelessly then you need to click "Wireless Settings", pick your SSID (Name of your network) and any security you choose. After this you ought to be set for wireless access as well.
