With a universal remote control, you can do an auto search. this will try all 4 digit combination and in a short time, you will have the right code programmed. please see instructions on how to do that here. otherwise, depending on your location, this Cambridge remote would be a good replacement.
Regards
Not all codes are the same for universal all remotes, use the list of codes provided with the remote, if your device is not listed perform a code search, refer to the manufacturer's instructions for doing a code search for unlisted codes, it varies with each model and make or remote control, all universal remotes have code search capability.
May I get the make and model # of the remote to help you more
May I get the make and model # of the universal remote
When you buy the universal remote it will come with the codes for your product. Just make sure the the remote will support you product. On the back of the package will tell you what brands the remote will support.
Every universal remote has different codes. So it is impossible to help you unless you have a remote there to program.
Good luck
That is true but some manufactures will put a 1 or 4 in-front of the code so the remote will know that it is for a TV, DVD player, Or CD player.
No I do not and no one on this site will have the code for your player. Sorry

As per the original question the CD player is
Brand = Cambridge
Model = D500SE
Thanks
Peter
I haven't bought one yet. No point unless I can get the necessary remote codes.
My understanding is that the actual CD player responds to certain remote codes and these codes are determined by the receiver in the player and not dictated by the remote controller. Therefore the codes should be the same irrespective of which controller you use.
If I know the actual CD player remote codes, I can sort out the prefix numbers for the actual universal remote after I purchase it.
From this circular pattern of questions, I can only assume that you do not have access to the remote codes for the Cambridge D500SE CD player. If so I will have to try another expert.
I have already tried contacting the manufacturer etc without success. This is the reason I posted this query hoping that somebody might have access to these codes. I don't want to buy a universal remote until I have the necessary codes.
