Question about Toshiba Tecra 9000/9100 Keyboard

1 Answer

The mouse pointer on my Toshiba Tecra 9000 will randomly drift away and off the screen. It happens more and more often. I can successfully use an external mouse, but don't like to use this machine remotely with an external mouse. Do I need to replace the driver or something?

Hello,

The problem is either a software of hardware problem.

When I say software, i mean, the driver of the mouse pointer/pad need to be re-installed, and when I say hardware problem, I mean, the mouse pad of your system might be defective.

Also restoring the system might help to solve the problem. To perform system restore, go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories > System tools > System restore. Allow the computer perform the restore and your computer will be restarted. Once the system boots up, try again.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then know for sure that its an hardware problem, the mouse pad might be defective. You will be needing the help of a repair man if that be the case.

Good luck.

Mouse pointer drfts to the right side of the screen. I have a touch pad and a mouse button on the keyboard. Even when I connected my usb mouse that pointer drifts as well. I'm not able to control the mouse...

see if your touchpad settings have a setting that controls the sensitivity on the area around the touchpad where you rest your hands on the laptop. I forget what it's called, but most laptops have a setting to control that, so when you rest your hands on the laptop it doesn't affect mouse movement. When you rest your hands, if the sesitivity is too high, the mouse pointer will move when you place your hands to rest on that area.

Re toshiba techra 8000

Some laptops have a touch pad between the keyboard and the edge of the laptop. This works like a mouse except you slide your finger around the pad to move the mouse pointer and the buttons next to the touch pad are the left and right buttons.
Other laptops have a small round button in the middle of the keyboard which is a mini joystick and it is used to move the mouse pointer around, it will have a couple of mouse buttons at the botom edge of the keyboard.
You can connect a normal mouse to your laptop, it is mush easier than using the laptop's touch pad or mini joystick.

Hello, I just received a used Toshiba tecra 9000 laptop and it is missing the "mouse" and I need a part number so I may buy one.

Since the Tecra 9000's mouse is actually the Accupoint that's located within the keyboard, it cannot possible be missing the mouse (unless it's missing the keyboard).
Unless you're missing the Accupoint cap. Only place to order them is from Toshiba Support.

Great! The part number you seek is P000329030, Below is a link to purchase a refurb keyboard. They work just as well as a new one but at less cost. I think a new board will run you between $85-$100 dollars depending on where you go. (My company, C2Solutions, sells it for $84.95 new and free shipping.) When you do get it, it's fairly easy to install the new one. Good Luck and glad to help. Franklin

I'll bet it's the mouse in the keyboard that is at fault rather than your left arrow. Try pressing the little joystick mouse device in between the G and H key and above the B key to the right when your pointer drifts to the left. If it's the joystick moving it and then letting it rest should re calibrate it.
Let us know whether or not the joystick is the culprit or not so we may continue to help you?

This is often a symptom of a malware infection; update your AV program, then run a full scan of your entire HDD. If you can't find the problem with your AV program, you have a second option. Open Internet Explorer, then open the housecall.trendmicro.com website and do an online scan of your system. You can also download Hijack This directly from there, in case you need it to remove something manually... Good luck; let us know what you find. This could be a REAL nasty problem, but with some time and patience, you should be able to resolve this without resorting to drastic measures.
