Question about Cell Phones

6 Answers

When attempting to phone a number, phone goes beep, beep, beep and goes back to initial screen, works fine with other numbers. Have checked the phone I am calling, has no indication of the attempted call and there is no block on that phone for my number as far as can find. Both phones work fine on other numbers. PS. The other phone can call my phone successfully.

The problem has existed for weeks. There is no black listing of my phone number in the other phone that anyone has been able to find

  • brob001 Oct 14, 2010

nokia 3310, vodaphone. I have attempted to call this other phone with the two phones side by side. There is no indication on the phone being called of the attempted call, if there was a block set in this phone wouldn't it still indicate the attempted call and that it had blocked it?

  • brob001 Oct 15, 2010

There is no barring under messages, but there is under settings, security services where there is a call barring service. However there is nothing set, it also as an option to cancel all barrings which I have done several times but the problem persists.
I will be away until late Monday so if you post I reply I won't be able to respond until then.
    Thanks

If you sent me a response on the 16/10/10, I am unable to see it. Even though I have an email from fixya dated the 16/10/10 when I go to fixya the latest response is from you dated the 15/10/10 which says
"It doesnt appear as barring under messages...will try to see if i can
get someone with a similar phone and get the right information for you
    before monday."
So if you have send me something after this could you please resend it.

even with the phones side by side there appears no indication on the phone being called that an a call to it has been attempted.

  • brob001 Oct 21, 2010

I haven't tried the sim card in another phone, I don't have one readily available.
The phone works fine for both incoming and out going calls except when I attempt to call a particular number ( I am not sure if there are other numbers which fail this way, I think there are probably others but I can't recall when it happened). Disregarding whether there are other numbers which also fail, there is one particular number which i am unable to call. When I attempt to call this phone my phone says calling the number then goes beep 3 times and returns to the initial screen. The number I am calling is no longer in my phone book ( I deleted the entry as I thought maybe there was some problem with the phone book entry) I key the number into the initial screen.
As I have mentioned I have tried calling the other phone with the handsets sitting side by side and the phone being called gives no indication of any call being attempted to it. There is no problem with the other phone calling my phone, or with my phone calling other phones on the same network as the phone which my phone can't connect to.
Let me know if you would like any other details.
    Thanks

There are no call barrings set on the other phone that we can find. Wouldn't that phone indicate that a call had been attempted even if had the number barred?

  • brob001 Oct 26, 2010

    Anyone have any ideas??

  • brob001 Oct 28, 2010

I think you need to read all the comments already posted. I can't tell you the model of the phone that replies beep, beep, beep when I attempt to call it but I can call an identical phone on the same carrier without problem. I will post the model of the phone that I am having the problem calling when I find out.
    Thank You

  • brob001 Oct 29, 2010

As I have said in previous comments the problem exists even when the phones are side by side, when the other phone can call my phone successfully. My phone can successfully call other phones on the same network (Telstra) when I cannot call the failing phone.
I have not been able to call the failing phone in any situation.
See the previous comments I have posted for further clarification.

OK I have been able to try a few things.
I am definitely entering a 0 as the first character of the number to dial.
I have tried my sim card in another phone and I get the same results ie beep ,beep, beep and then return to main menu when attempting to call this particular phone number, phone works OK otherwise.
I have taken both phones together to the local Vodaphone and Telstra shops (my phone is on the vodaphone network through Just) and my friend phone is on the Telstra network. Both shops had no idea , they all saw the problem occurring and saw that both phones worked normally otherwise. They had no suggestions or ideas as to what the problem could be. The Telstra shop suggested I ring their help desk 125111, (don't inflict this on anyone you want to remain friends with). After a hour on the help desk struggling to hear and understand and explain the problem to 4 different "experts" they had no suggestions or ideas as to what the problem could be. I am not even sure that any of the 4 really understood what I was saying, it is most frustrating when you cannot get a sensible related response to a statement or question you make. Surely Telstra could employ someone you can have a normal conversation with!!
My friends phone is a Sony Ericsson Z7501, mine is a Nokia 3310 ( I know its old but I believe I have proven it is mot the problem)
Please see ALL my previous comments as obviously some of the responded have not bothered to read them
    Thanks

I have check with sony erricsson and they tell me there is no facility on that phone Model Z750I to block a paticular phone number. Do you know otherwise and how to remove the block?

  • brob001 Nov 11, 2010

I have now been able to try the sim card from my friend's phone (the sony ericsson) in anoter phone. Guess what problem still exists. So I believe this proves niether phone is the problem, so all that is left is the sim cards or the carriers. Both carriers Telstra and Vodaphone say they have no blockings and have no idea. How do you test a sim card??

  • brob001 Nov 11, 2010

I have now tried my friend's sim card in another phone. Guess what same result problem still exists. So this I believe proves neither phone is the problem, must either be a simm card or a carrier. Both carriers say they have no blockings set and have no idea as to the problem. So how do you test a sim card?

  • brob001 Nov 12, 2010

I will approach the supplier of my sim card and see if they will supply me with a replacement, I'm not sure what their reaction will be.
Thanks for your continued interest in my problem.

  • brob001 Nov 21, 2010

I have purchased a new sim card for my phone, unfortunately it has made no differrence. I believe this means we have eliminated both phones, and my sim card, both networks say they are not the problem. Any ideas as who I could approach regarding resolving the problem?

  • brob001 Nov 21, 2010

The new sim card was for the existing number. When you say the service provider engineers do you mean from vodaphone and telstra, any idea how I would contact them?
    Thanks for your continued help.

There is nothing wrong with your cell phone. If there was any problem with your cell phone you will not be able to contact other numbers. It is the net work problem. May be your location is such that it comes under dead zone when connecting to the network of your desired phone number. May be the band width has been exceeded with your service provider. Please contact your service provider. Have you tried to contact the desired number from any other location?????? If successful than the problem lies in the net work.

The other phone might have added your phone number in the call barring service list by accident. Remove your phone number from that list of the other phone and try again.

May be possible that other no has call barring activated on your no.
try checking this by inserting other sim to your phone.
also use other phone with your sim to call that no you will shortlist whether this is a call barring issue or not.

For my sake please put a 0 before that no and try calling him.

Regards........

Ok, you say other numbers can call that unit ( phone you are calling with response beep beep beep) successfully but from a specific one you get beep. and that a call back goes through. i would recommend you check for any possible restrictions with your carrier. if there is none, try to reset the unit that is responding with beep. post back if doesn't work out with full brand and models indicated.

What if you insert the sim card on another Phone/Handset? Is there any changes or similar problem persists?

I am not sure whether you've tried this or not, it's not so very clear, but this should be the first task in troubleshooting this issue.

You mean, if you call from the phone with the sim card inserted, you can't call others, but you can receive calls, isn't it?

The strange thing is with those beep, "beep and beep" which makes the phone back to initial screen. Let me know with more details.

Thanks

I have only one idea that I can share with this issue. I am not sure whether it's possible to get a new sim card with the same number from your service provider or not (it's possible in my country/area). If that's possible, I would recommend you to ask them for a replacement telling them the issues with your sim card.

After thinking again and again.. I recollect a friend of mine had similar issue. Might be a rare case, but I suspect this. The radio frequency or the voltage of the two sim cards have interference issues when they are trying to communicate. I don't mean both the sim card, but I suspect the sim card which doesn't allow you to make calls (outgoing), i.e. your sim cards. I have had come across similar issue (only once) but not with a particular number. That sim card fails to make calls to any numbers but any numbers call back without any problem. I wasn't sure whether it was what i was thinking or was suspecting, but there's no more problem with the new sim card after we got a replacement.

    All the best.

Did you get a new sim card with a new number or same number which was having the problem? I think you've got a new sim card with the same number. Honestly I am also out of ideas with this issue. If you would to contact, the service provider engineers should know about these things and they are only the experts who should know this much.

  • Lebanon Raingam
    Lebanon Raingam Nov 22, 2010

Yes, Vodafone and Telstra... but it wont be easy to contact, if you know someone who is working with Telecom or who is a staff of Telecom, you can try your luck with their help. But you don't have such opportunities, your only choice is to insist the Sim Card provider i.e. vodafone and Telstra and get their engineers help.

Your problem is definitely very strange, and how comes calls doesn't work when you make calls from that particular number to a particular number? Now, it's clear that the problem isn't with your sim card nor with the handset since you've had already tried on another handset with the same result.

    All the best.

If this problem has been going on for a very short while like half a day then it could be a network related problem and will be resolved very soon on its own. But if said problem has persisted for more than a day then apparently there is something either wrong with the other phone.
Your number has probably been mistakenly blacklisted on the other phone device. Best thing to do is go through the other phone critically and ensure that any third party software used for blacklisting.
Also ensure that if your number is in such you completely remove it from there.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

The nokia 3310 has a feature under messages which blocks incoming calls cant really remember what the feature was called again because i havent seen that phone in about 6 years but has a name like blacklist or something similar. Check the messages thoroughly there should be something similar there. Wish i could give more specific details let me know anything irregular you find there.

Default password for samsung GT-E1080i

correct
there are two methods of providing security on a phone
the first is a PUK code ( personal user Key) that is set by the service provider and is activated after 3 false attempts of the sim card security or PIN number( personal identification number)
Now when you buy a new phone , you get a new sim card
that sim card will be programmed to include the details of the phone and the service provider and pin number
so if you loose the phone ( stolen) the finders cannot access your account as after 3 attempts of guessing you pin number the service provider makes the phone useless
the same as if you forget your pin number again the phone is rendered useless by the PUK code activation
So how do you get around all this
where you buy the phone , will have the ability to set it all up for you with a service provider , will provide you with an initial pin number and once you have activated the account they will show you how to enter a pin number of your choice and how to set it
so if you are having difficulties then take it back to the shop and have them show you how to do it all

I blocked a telephone number by mistake. How do I unblock it? Thanks

Hi ther here is some steps if it works..Enter the last four digits of your phone number on your cell phone PIN screen.
Enter 9999, and if that doesn't work try 1111, and if that doesn't work try other four-digit numbers you may have entered.
Shut off your cell phone, take off the back of your phone and pull out the battery. Record the IMEI number which is under the battery. Re-insert the battery and power on the phone. Enter the last four digits of the IMEI number on the PIN entry screen
Call your service provider and request the unlock PIN if none of your attempts so far have worked. You will have to prove you are a customer by stating your cell phone number..
Finally See a cellphone technician..

My nokia E63 is going really slowly, if I try and dial a number it takes ages for the number to come up on the screen and each number comes on after a really long beep. It's the same with any other...

Hi, when a phone goes really slowly, means a lot of application are functioning at the same time.

Delete and close some data on the phone it will make the phone work normal again.

if it works fine in safe mode you should try a system restore . most of the time a problem that gos away in safe mode is driver related . IE software don't think you have a hard ware issue. you can call dell if you do not have the disk . 1-866-751-6079 call this number it's dell's Spanish tech support number but this is the fastest way to reach a real person at dell . just ask them to speak English and they will.

samsung hue r500 and having problem when accidentally or curiously selected nam2.. after it powers off then on again by itself, it brings u to a little window (initial programming needed) and the enter code (password). as you will notice none of your 4 digit passwords will work, default wont work, u have to push the back or end call button to get away from the enter code window. enter ##626# and hit send button. it will bring u to option to select nam1 or nam2, select nam1.. go to next screen, enter in the sdc code which is 000000, (6 zeros), enter or next screen, make sure that mid is same as ur cell number, go to next screen, it will show ur number again, next screen, will be sid and nid numbers... they are what they should be, go next screen, then i think there is option to be done, view, edit choose done, next screen then it will program by itself. powering on then off, bringing u back to same screen with the same window of initial programming needed, just go to enter code, and enter the last 4 of your cell number, and it will let u through,.. just remember to go back in to your phone options menu and change the nam setting in there back to nam1 also. then it will power off and on again. program should be complete... you can always also dial *228 and option 2 to reprogram your phone again to make sure.
