If this is a home PC, you can just unplug the usb drive and all the programs that have them open will have no choice but to release the file from memory. They might complain or corrupt data, but you're deleting it anyways.

If this is a server, get the Sysinternals tool 'process explorer'. It lets you see open file handles from all the processes.

My transcend 32 gb jf v60 flash drive usb displays a " write protected" widow everytime I want to delete files. Now i can only view and open files but cannot format, save or delete existing files

Try looking at the usb drive itself.....is there a small switch/ latch somewhere?

Some usb drives and SD memory cards have little switches that protect them from being overwritten/ deleted. If there is a switch, try sliding it to another position, then try to delete files

How do I delete files from flash drive--wipe clean

Cleaning a Flash Drive

Put the flash drive into your computer's USB port (assuming you have the proper driver loaded onto the computer). Go to "My Computer" and highlight the drive that shows up, right-click and select "Format." That'll wipe it completely clean.

Or, if you just want to remove the files, do the same thing but instead of formatting, just highlight the files and right-click to delete the file, pix, or whatever.

I accidentally deleted a picture from my Nikon Coolpix L11. How do I recover it?

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some file recovery software. Recommended this data recovery as it saved my life many times.

After rebooting, a message is displayed. "Reload software 552".

This error occurs with blackberry phonehis is a serious issue, one that could cost you all of your BlackBerry data Most likely, you'll have to completely wipe your device Yes, it's sad, but if you backed up your BlackBerry recently it shouldn't be a huge issue. You'll just have to restore it once you're done. On your PC - and yes, you'll need a PC - you'll need the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager. But, before you go wipe your BlackBerry, you might want to try a basic USB connection first. Plug in your Berry and instead of running Desktop Manager, run App Loader. There's a chance the device will connect, and at that point you can root around in the device's files. I'd recommend deleting any recently installed applications, plus any unused theme files - even your current theme, just to be sure. For some reason, third party themes can cause problems. Also, if you can upgrade your OS through App Loader, try that too. Once you do that, disconnect the device and see what's up. If it still doesn't work, onto the device wipe.

To do the full wipe, you can follow the written instructions here,

Hp Pavilion a1220n -- Copy file errors when Installing windows

Maybe I can help;
When I install a new hard drive I like to re-install the operating system (OS) as well. Unfortunatly this wipes out all your files.
Typically when files do not copy it's either because they're in use or the media (your new hard drive) is not formatted properly.
Note, formatting erases everything on the drive being formatted.
Instruction for this are easy to find online but are all done for you if you use the OS install CD which will walk you through the setup, formatting, and partitioning.

If you have a way to save your files to another drive such as a usb thumb drive, external hard drive, cd or dvd, I would go about it that way. There's usually alot of uneeded files created by the operating system after a period of time and there's no sense in keeping them. They only slow your system down.

One other thing you can consider if you don't have an external hard drive is purchasing a hard drive enclosure for your old hard drive. You can find them at Best Buy. I paid about $30. Its just a case and usb cord you can use as an external hard drive and also copy any files you can still access on this old drive over to your new one.

Let me know if this helps you
