Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators

1 Answer

My ice machine dispensor broke. I little wheel attached by a 1 inch piece of plastic came off. Now the black piece that hold back the ice and prevents ice from falling out is just hanging there. I have a dish towel stuck in the shute to keep the cold air from escaping. please help me find out where this piece goes so I can get our ice machine back up and running.

That didn't help. The piece that came off is a 1 inch piece of flexible plastic with a wheel attached. I just don't know where it goes or how to put it on. I have checked out the blueprints off the unit and I can't even locate the part. The unit was purchased in 07 and we live out of town. The nearest person to work on it would cost $139 just to come out an diagnosis it. That doesn't include if they have to order another part or the labor to install it. I am totally frustrated and would never buy another whirlpool product again. The website is not helpful.

Ice dispenser delivers only crushed ice.

Make sure the dispensor door flap is closing completely .
Remove the ice bin , close the door , set the display for cubed and press the dispensor pad . Do you hear a " clunk " sound ? If not , open the door and press on the light switch , and activate the pad again . On the back wall , next to the " forks " , is a square hole with a white plastic square . Does this plastic square raise up ? If not , remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there ( this removes power to the dispensor ) , you will have to remove the 4 screws holding this panel , and determine if the solenoid is bad , wire came off , or plastic piece is broken . If the plastic piece does lift , then the problem is in the ice bin . Lift the long rod , and see if the flap moves , where the ice comes out . If not , you will have to determine why .

Ice maker crushes ice even in the cube mode

Remove the ice bin . Press the door switch in , and press the dispensor actuator pad . In the back , on the panel with the prongs , there is a square box cut-out , which houses a white square plastic piece . If this piece doesn't lift when set on cubes , then the solenoid is bad or a wire has come off of the solenoid . To access this solenoid , remove the 3 or 4 screws holding the panel on . Also try lifting this plastic piece with your finger , to see if it is frozen . Also a sign that the cube solenoid needs to be replaced .

The ice maker door stands open by about a quarter of an inch allowing cold to escape and frost to form. How can I replace or repair the little ice dispenser door on the front of my freezer section?

Remove the top hinge cover of the freezer door and disconnect the plug . This removes power to the dispensor . Pry the bottom of the control board outward and disconnect the 3 plugs on the board . Remove the 4 screws holding the dispensor switch housing and slide out . The door flap solenoid is the probable problem . Remove this piece ( upper right ) by removing the 3 screws . Replace with part number WR62X10055 . Reinstall in reverse .

I was cleaning my bobbin case and the cutter and blade came off. Can you send me a picture so I can put it back together?

I don't think I have a picture but let me see if I can describe it to you.

The metal cutter has a black plastic piece. The blade fits in the black plastic with the longest point on top. The black plastic piece slides back onto the metal cutter, riding on the ridge. Fit the metal cutter back on the unit, being sure to align the "stubs" in the holes of the black pieces attached to the cog wheel. Make sure the "stub" of the black plastic piece with the blade fits in the parallel groove so that only the metal piece moves out and brings the thread to the blade when the cutter is activiated.

If you are still unable to fix, make a comment back and I'll go take pictures of my machine's cutter system.

Good luck.

Ice dispenser door flap will not close completely. I'm sure something has sprung or broke inside the door. How do I get the face off to look at the mechanism that opens and closes the door?

Remove the top freezer hinge hover on top of the freezer door . Unplug the receptical there ( this will remove power to the door only ) .
Using a small screwdriver at the "crease" on the bottom of the dispensor control board inside the dispensor , twist slightly to disengage the 2 clips ( 1 on each side ) holding the dispensor board . Unplug the 3 connectors from the board . 4 screws ( 1 on each corner ) hold the dispensor housing shield . Remove these 4 small screws . After removing , at the top right , you will see a solenoid and plunger . These are probably rusted , holding the flap open . The part number for the solenoid and plunger is WR62X10055 . 3 screws hold this part on . When reinstalling the dispensor housing , It slides back on 2 "grooves" so make sure it is back in place , or the board will not snap back on properly at the bottom .

Whirlpool Gold Model GD25SFXHS03 exterior ice lever not working

Your problem is probably a broken plastic switch bracket . Pt # 2180226 . To access , use a butter knife between the dispensor grill and the lower portion of the dispensor cover . FIRST , remove the cover on the top freezer hinge , and disconnect the plug there . This removes all power to the door . Insert the knife about 1 " from the side , and push down and inward , to push the plastic tab of the cover , outward . Do the same for the other side . Lift upward to slip the top tabs free of the mount . Disconnect the plug to the dispensor cover , and remove the cover . The white piece with the 2 switches , probably has a short plastic stub , broken off which holds the ice dispensor switch . Looks like maybe 4 small screws , hold the switch bracket on . Transfer the switches carefully ,because you are working with plastic . When reinstalling the dispensor cover , after attaching the receptical , slip the top portion of the cover in place , and pop the bottom to latch the lower clips .

Ice maker door does not close all the way and the ice maker switch that releases the ice when press does not work all the time

Sounds like your saying that the ice dispensor flap is not closing completely which will cause frost on the inside shoot and on the ice bucket . Could be because of a broken guide ( clear plastic piece attached to the ice dispensor arm ) . Need brand and model number to help .

Ice dispenser won't stop dispensing

The rubber piece you put your container against , has a little plastic "trigger" attached . Usually they tend to stick . The dispensor has to be disasembled to replace the rubber actuator . Sometimes I've found using a small amount of white grease on the plastic piece fixes the problem without replacing the rubber pad .

Nakamichi BX-2 Cassette Deck Takeup Reel

I had sorta the same problem and I just fixed it. Mine was making clicking noises and jerking the tape causing speed variations and pitch changes, Uggghh. The FF, Rew, and take up functions are not belt driven like most decks. There is a little idler wheel between the motor and the take up axle. Take the whole transport assembly loose from the front of the deck...slide it back 3 inches . Take off the ground wire screw, and 3 screws holding the transport mechanism in place :...1 screw on top, 2 on bottom. Take the black front faceplate off of the drive...2 little screws. This exposes everything. The little idler wheel has a press on tiny, tiny piece of clear plastic holding it onto its little axle. Be hella careful. Use a tiny eyeglass screwdriver to pry it up and off. Dont lose it. Pull the idler wheel off. The rubber has hardened and slips. Pry the rubber rim off of the white plastic pulley using the tiny screwdriver. Put on an O ring that just fits. Scruff up the perimeter of the O ring with 220 sandpaper, Easy does it. Idler wheel goes back in, press on the little plastic retainer, put the black metal plate back on( 2 screws at top), slide the transport mechanism back into the front panel, secure with 3 screws, ground strap, replace cover. Clean heads, demagnetise, badda bing, badda boom.

Whirlpool pin retainer is broken on ice dispenser

this is easy. there is a small area beside where the piece broke off. bend a small peice of metal coat hanger at a 90 degree angle, (this is so you can make your new hole on the correct line) heat the end with a lighter, burn a smallhole thru this area beside where the previous hole existed. now throw away the old pin that you were using and use a piece of coat hanger cut to the right length. on one end bend about one half inch to 90 degree angle, feed thru new hole and thru your spring and flap and thru to opposite side hole and lastly make small bend to keep wire from sliding out. ta da, fixed. problem solved for about two cents. i have successfully repaired many of these doors.
