Question about Husqvarna 20" 60cc Rancher Chain Saw 460

1 Answer

My Huqvarna 460 chokes out at full throttle. I thought it was bad gas, emptied the tank and ran almost a full tank with no problem, the next day it has the same full throttle problem.

Do you mean high rpms? do you try the 2 adjusting screws? one is for gas/air mix and other for high/low throttle.

Hi, I have a 13.5hp Briggs & Stratton motor which starts and will only run on choke slow rpms and mild smoke.

check the point where the fuel hose goes to the fuel tank
there is very fine filter in the hose that could be blocked preventing full fuel flow
only running on choke indicates insufficient fuel flow

if the fuel lines have any rubber fuel lines they could be sucking air. also try replacing the fuel caps, it may not be venting

Chech engine light is on

I was getting the same and found out I got some bad gas.

The computer could not understand so 2 tanks later till running badly and giving 460+134 codes... Ran till empty - got best gas I could find ** -> the KEY **-> Unplugged the battery for a full 20 minutes, checked every wire for grounding issue (none really found) --- everything is great now.

Mileageicon1.png went down for that tank but then came back to normal.

Starts fine, run fine, for about 2 to 5 min.,then cuts off, sounds like it's not getting the gas.

I have a Husqvarna 125B same problem. Turned out to be a bad gas cap. Doesn't vent properly and starves the engine. I took the gas cap off of my Huqvarna weed eater and put on blower and blower worked fine,

My poulan wild thing will start but will not stay running without holding the throttle. What should I do?

Get some sta-bil fuel stabilizer. add twice the amount recommended on the bottle for storage to your mixed gas. Empty out chainsaw tank and refill with the new mix. Rub for 2 minutes, then shut off. Remove cover over carb and spray inside carb, soaking it down good and cleaning all internal surfaces visible - allow to sit overnight.
Next day
Spray down carb with carb cleaner for about 15 seconds. Start saw, allowing 2 minutes to warm up and reduce choke. If saw stalls, restart and spray inside carb as it runs with choke on - keep motor at the highest rpms you can as you spray - spray in 2 second bursts, not allowing motor to stall from spray. If it stalls, change sparkplug and try again. You have varnish build up in the carb and are trying to remove it so the carb will work without the choke. This may take some time but it is the exact procedure I used for my Poulan Team Realtree last spring - I spent about an hour spraying and staring before it ran without the choke.
Good luck!!

Craftsman Lawn Tractor will only run in full choke

When you had the carb off did you clean the low jet with a welding tip cleaner? This solves most lawnmower hibernation problems. Next year empty the fuel tank completely and spray a little WD40 or an eqivalent into the tank and plug hole.

Craftsman gas leafblower

Hey Karl,

To me this sounds like its getting too much fuel after it has been warmed up so either there is too much gas flow to the unit or there is not enough. check your primer bulb once this happens if there is a full bulb when it shuts down chances are its getting too much gas, if its empty then its not getting enough and your fuel filter could be starting to plug up or is not in the tank properly.
