I have changed the computer because the old one failed giving me the F1 code and them shutting down. I had the balancing problem before I changed the computer. I was hoping by getting a new computer with updated software, would also solve the balancing problem but it did not. The basket seems to turn freely and the tub foats freely on it's spring hangers. Is there anything else I can check?

Hi Jahn27, Your solution sounds like the best way to go. I checked everything else I think. Where should I make the holes in the balance rings? The top ring sounds like it has water in it. Where should I make the holes in the top ring and where on the bottom ring?

Hi Jahn27, Your soution worked. I can't thank you enough. But I'll say it one more time THANK YOU. I pulled out the basket and found that both the top and bottom balance rings had a good amount of water in them. I drilled 6 small holes evenly spaced in each ring to drain them. I'm glad you had me pull the basket because the driveshaft and the bearings in the basket were dry and starting to rust. So I lubed them while I had it apart. I reassembled everything and it works fine now. Just like the day I first used it. Thanks Again, Eddie2300

Take the basket out and check the balance rings for water accumulation. Punch small holes through the balance rings to drain the water if there's any.

You can make holes anywhere you want on the balance rings. The sole purpose of the holes is just to drain the water so it doesn't matter where you put the holes.

HELLO,

There are several reasons that a washing machine won't drain or spin. The cause could be something as easy as a clog or something difficult that will need a licensed repairman. Start with the simplest possible cause and work down to the more difficult causes.

Here bare likely problem of the washer and their solutions below,

  • A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.
  • 2 If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer's directions for replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually check for signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back into place.
  • 3 Loose or broken belts could also prevent a washing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the wall and, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using the flashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken or loose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone who has replaced belts on a car , lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be able to accomplish the task.
  • 4 Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. If the washer is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if the pump is running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary to remove the pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once the pump is replaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain and spin.

  • 5 If all of the above steps fail to produce a washing machine that drains or spins, then it is time to call a professional repairman. Use the screwdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washer and push it back against the wall

  • hope this help ?

Thank you and thanks for visiting fixya.

      HELLO,

      If
your Kenmore Elinte washing machine does not agitate, spin or drain, you have a
      problem that needs fixing.

The average do-it-yourself offer can do this job without hiring the professional technician. Each problem indicates a
separate repair, but while you have the washer apart, it never hurts to
check things while the back is off and the parts are off the washer.

please exercise caution and make sure that the washer is unplugged and the water is off before you begin.

INSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL NEEDED TO CARRY OUT THIS FUNCTION

      • Screwdriver

      • Needle-nosed pliers

      • Wire

      • Garden hose

      • Bucket

        Washer Won't Drain

      1. 1

        Check
the drain hose to see if anything is plugging it. Sometimes small
pieces of material go out with the wash water and become lodged in the
        drain hose.

      2. 2

        Open
the access panel in the back by removing the screws and taking off the
back panel. Remove the drain hose. this is usually held on with a
        clamp, collar or clip.

      3. 3

        Use
a pair of needle-nosed pliers to remove the obstruction. If the
material is further into the hose, you can use a sturdy piece of wire
with a small hook bent at the end. Stick this into the hose to try to
pull the obstruction out. If you still can't reach the obstruction,
disconnect the entire hose and force the obstruction out with a water
        hose using the jet spray.

      4. Washer Won't Spin

      5. 1

Check the pump or pulley if your machine doesn't spin. Sometimes the pump may be frozen or stuck.

      6. 2

Remove the screws from the back access panel of the washer and remove the back panel.

      7. 3

        Remove
the pump from the washer by unsnapping the retainer from the pump using
a screwdriver. Remove the hose clamps and disconnect the two hoses one
at a time. Have a bucket handy, because the hoses may have water inside.

      8. 4

        Rotate
the pulley by hand. If it does not move easily, then you will need to
replace this because it is frozen or stiff. Also, check the belts to
make sure they have no tears or damage. While the pump is off the
machine, continue to the next step to check the motor couplings. When
these become bad, the washing machine will not agitate.

      9. Machine Won't Agitate or Spin

      10. 1

        Remove
the pump and drive motor. You will find two plastic and one rubber
motor couplings. One is located on the drive motor and the other is on
the gear case with the rubber coupling between them.

      11. 2

        Pry
or break the old couplings off with your screwdriver. Replace with new
couplings. Simply push one onto the shaft of the gear case and press
the second one onto the shaft of the drive motor.

      12. 3

Line up the holes of the rubber isolation coupling with the studs in the coupling. Push the rubber isolation coupling in place.

      13. 4

        Push
the isolation and coupling on the drive motor making sure that the
holes line up with the studs on the other coupling on the gear case.

      14. 5

        Reinstall
the drive motor and then snap the pump in place with the retainers to
hold it in place. Reconnect the hoses with the clamps and snap the.Put
the washer back on and screw the back in place. Position the washer
where you had it before and plug the washer in.
      Hope this help?

      Good luck and thnaks.

This washer has 4 rods that hold it in suspension. One of them 4 rods might be broken or simply jumped the track. I have a service manual that is not your exact one but it shows how to get into the machine so you can check them rods. TECH MANUAL

Did you check those damping rods attached at the base?

Their is 2 kinds of movement the tub as you know is supported by 4 rods. The lateral movement is maintained by dampers attached from the base of the tub to the floor of the machine. Have you checked those?

    1) There's a piece of clothing stuck between the inner basket and outer tub.
    2) The tub is not floating freely, usually because it's seized to the drive shaft by rust and crudus; FYI: this condition is almost always caused by using non-HE detergent in this washer. Also, be aware that, if this is the case, it can be very difficult to remove the basket from a badly corroded drive shaft, could even be a two-man job. And be careful you don't wrench your back
    3) Their is a updated machine control unit (computer) with new software that also helps minimize this concern

Hi, if your washing machine is unbalanced and stop spinning without clothes inside, then you have a problem with the internal components of the machine which can most likely be the machine drum or the belt and in most cases you need to replace both. If you are not technically inclined, please call in a service man to fix it. And remember kindergarten rule #1 "If in doubt, don't" with everything that is potentially dangerous. Electricity kills so a service repair bill may be a better solution.

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

My whirlpool duet washer hammers very loud when it spins. The outside of the machine doesn't seem to vibrate much but it is very loud.

That is a common occurrence with dryers such as this one. Even though it sounds bad, it is harmless. If it really bothers, you can re-balance the load and it should reduce the vibration.

This indicated the load in the washing machine is unbalanced. Open the machine and move the clothes in the drum so it is evenly distributed in the drum.

My Kenmore Elite Oasis washer unbalanced signal seems to be very sensitive. Only after several tries of readjusting the load to get it really even that the washer will spin without stopping. I made sure...

If the washer throws an UL error code with out any clothes in the washer then the issue must be concerned with the mechanical alignment inside the machine or a bad CCU.

The most common problem which can cause this is some sort of mechanical hinderance which does not allow the basket to move freely.

The suspension system which holds the basket in its place might be faulty and causing the unbalancing. In this model i think there are plastic ring at the bottom of the basket . Even if they are worn out or moved out of position it may cause the UL error code you are facing
