If you can get into the menu, find "reset" to return to factory default settings. If not, remove the card and battery...press every button...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery....turn it on.

My vivitar dvr 410 won't turn on. When I plug it in to the computer it says MSDC and i even took out the memory card and fliped down its switch...the same thing happened.....

MSDC is displayed on the camera's LCD screen when connected to your PC because the PC recognizes the camera as a "mass storage device". make sure you installed the software to your PC before you connect the camera.

Msdc not present

MSDC error indicates a file system related error. More often than not it is caused by corrupted file system on the memory card. However it can also occur due to faulty in built memory. To find out which one it is remove the memory card and see if the problem persists and let me know your observation(s).

What does MSDC mean everytime I plug the camera into my laptop that comes up on the screen?

Hi,

The MSDC error is to do with the memory card having bad sectors or has become corrupt.

Basically you have to reformat the card to get it working or take the card out of the camera and put it in a card reader and see if you can get the computer to recognize the card that way.

Regards.

Turned the camera on but screen display says MSDC and can turn not camera off

Make sure the battery is inserted correctly. We spent 5 hours complaining about the camera we bought for our daughter because we couldn't get rid of the MSDC message. We had put the battery back in it upside-down after inserting the memory card; she is the one who discovered our mistake.

Memory Card

Make sure your battery is inserted in the proper direction (it will fit even if upside down).

i have the same camera and the same problem but i have found out msdc means mass storage device, for the camera to work you have to have a memory card inside it. im getting one tomorrow for mine, so hopefully that should solve the problem :)
