Question about Hardware & Accessories

1 Answer

Need the on/off (red/black) pins to set on/off times on a 9yr. old Malibu landscape lighting transformer. Simple, where I may procure these pins? This is not a trick question.

Yours is a frequently asked question... twice today
I don't see Malibu tripper pins anywhere on the internet or at Malibulights.com

The newest Power packs are digital and don't have tripper pins.

25% of my downvotes are from disgruntled Malibu customers who have busted power packs. I don't bust power packs. But once their busted, there is no repair. There are no repair parts. There is no repair for a power pack that has electricity and doesn't work. Perhaps before downvoting the free answer, you could add a comment and ask how many hours I've looked for Malibu parts and solutions for folks with busted power packs. Ask how many of the manuals I read for the benefit of Malibu customers with busted power packs. Maybe the downvote should be aimed at Malibu and not the person providing free, accurate and truthful answers to disgruntled Malibu customers. Or pay for an answer at fixya, to check the absolute 100% guaranteed truthfulness of the answer provided for free.

I just purchased Malibu ML 600 TW transformer, and ran wire and attached lights, but I can't get any of them to work. Perhaps I'm wiring it incorrectly? How do I test the transformer to see if it is...

Malibu website
Malibu manuals

The power pack has a humming sound >> put your ear close
Plug in a hair dryer on same plug to see if you have power
Check the GFI tripper in bathroom and kitchen
Plug power pack directly into receptacle (no extension cord)
It is hard to believe you got every light wrong >> the light connections are pretty fail-proof today

1) You can test the transformer by rotating manual override counterclockwise >> that's the on-off switch
2) You can test transformer by seeing if clock dial rotates with passing time > the clock must rotate
3) You can check if wires have power > disconnect wires > use another wire to scratch across both terminals to see if there is a spark

4) Did you put the red-and-black tripper pins on the dial? Red = ON Black = OFF

5) I think you forgot to set the time of day correctly
- put in tripper pins.
- rotate center dial clockwise to present time
- now, rotate dial two more full rotations and come back to present time

If the dial will not rotate or transformer does not have power, then the transformer is defective.

Malibu ML200RT low voltage power pack is not working

First check to make sure that you do not have more watts pulling than is recommended. If this is ok then pull both the red and black plastic pin from the timer and replace them then try. If neither of these solutions work you may have a problem at power source.

Malibu landscape transformer

I discovered that I hadn't turned the manual switch to off on the one that wasn't working properly.
Now they both work fine. The instructions that come with the Malibu Transformer is not easy to understand and it does not go into enough detail. There isn't a trouble shooting section which would help.

Malibu landscape transformer

If it is keeping time try moving the stops. If it is not keeping time the motor is probably burned out. These transformers don't have a lot of serviceable parts to them.
