Question about Frigidaire FDB949GF Dishwasher

1 Answer

I have a fridgidaire Gallery dishwasher model # FDB949GFS2. It was not spraying water while running, so I checked for clogged wash arms and hoses etc. So I replaced the motor assembly and now I hear the motor running, it fills with hot water but it is still not circulating water. Is there something else I need to check. Thanks Tom

Most likely the wash sump is blocked. Refer this diagram. You will have to open the sump (item 14) and look for the golf ball type device (item 58). This must be stuck in the drain position. This dishwasher uses common sump for wash and drain and the ball acts like a valve to direct water in the proper direction.

Not sure if you replaced the motor assembly because the motor was not working or because you felt it was linked to the water not circulating.

Hope this helps fix the problem. Please rate the solution to help fixya serve you better in future.

Wtaer will not drain. what are things to check.

Hi, if the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check the drain line and pump..

A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.
Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Hope it helps...

Water will not drain from bottom of dishwasher.

Possible that the drain pump/valve is faulty or is clogged. It is best to check the voltage on the pump/valve of the washer , if absent the program controller must be checked., if present with no drain then the pump/valve is clogged /failed and must be taken out to be cleaned or replaced.

Dishwasher is not draining. how do you unclog? Removed all screens and traps, can't figure out where the clog is?

Those models commonly get food stuck in the spray arms. I would suggest you disassemble one or both and check for clogs there.
If you've checked all the screens and traps (and spray arms) in the dishwasher, have you checked the water flow in the hose to the sink and at the air gap (the small metal cylinder that sits on many sinks)? A dishwasher is typically connected to the air gap, then a short tube goes down and connects to the garbage disposal (if one is installed). The hose running from the dishwasher to the sink can become clogged as well. An easy way to check it is to tap the hose or pick it up close to the dishwasher. If it sounds full or is heavy, you've probably got a clog in the hose. If you do, be careful when you go to clear it, because the hose is full of water.

My Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher fills with a little bit of water but does not spray water and does not proceed through the wash cycle. Any advice? We had problems yesterday with blinking lights and not...

The spray arm rotates based on the water pressure coming out of them. If no water pressure, then no rotation. You probably have a clog on the intake hose. You can pull out the dishwasher, tip it forward so you can get to the bottom and then remove the intake hosing to check for debris that might be clogging it. Also check that the arm will spin freely if you spin it by hand, it should.
Let me know what you find. Have a great day.

Our dishwasher is retaining water in the base and not cleaning our dishes fully what is the problem?

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.

Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes.

Hope this helps...

My Maytag Qriet Series 100 Dishwasher won't drain

Check the drain hose connection at the sink drain for local blockage. If ok, you may have to tear down the lower spray arm assembly down to the deck (noting orientation and position as you remove parts). Look for clogged screens and clogged openings in the deck. You can use a vacuum hooked to 'blow' to make sure these openings are clear. Wash the screens in hot water, detergent, and white vinegar to remove water and food deposits. Make sure upper and lower spray arms have open spray holes and no split seams. Hope this gets you running again!

Top arm not spinning

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.

Frigidare Dishwasher/rolls around

Nick, check the spray arms themselves to make sure they are not clogged, cracked or split. You have a seperate wash and drain motor on this model. It could be the filter under the lower spray arm is completely clogged with food gunk. You would have to remove the spray arm and get down to the filter. The wash motor itself has a small impeller on the end. It may be broken or the motor itself is bad. You would have to pull the dishwasher, the wash motor comes off very easily with just a couple of screws and you can examine the impeller. Catriver...post back
