I got a used dell latitude cp and i'm wondering if it has a wireless card, or how i can hook it up to my wireless internet

Not sure, you should see, amongst all the led's which show when the Power / DVD or HDD are running. A small led which either looks like an antenna or has one inscribed near it.

If no, there's probably no card.

However, to connect to your wireless internet you may be able to use a PCMCIA card or a USB dongle. Just ensure the one you get is capable of decrypting at the standard you require ie WEP or WPA.

Dell latitude cp laptop how do you make it wireless for the internet

All laptops have inbuilt wireless network cards. You would need to have a wireless access point which has internet connectivity at your home or office. If available, you need to search for the wireless network and get connected. Some networks are secured so you would have to contact the administrator for the key.

if it's a tower... you'll need a linksys pci wireless card... and a linksys router... install the drivers first... then... with the computer off... follow instructions for installing the card... connect the antenna... and then turn on. wiat for the computer to boot... it should automatically find the card... now... on the back of the cable modem... disconnect the wire that was going to the computer... and put it in the connection on the router that says "internet", now... disconnect the cable modem... wait 30 seconds... then plug it back in... wait 1 min. for everything to come up... now... connect the power to the router... and wait 1 min... go to the linksys icon in the taskbar... and double click on it... survey the site... when you find the wireless networks that are avil... choose the one that's got the strongest signal... and click connect. now... open the internet broser... and go to tools... internet options... then connections, down at the bottom... you'll see lan... click on it... you should see a box that says automatically detect settings... make sure this is checked...then click apply... then on o.k... and exit the internet.... then go back in... you should have internet...

My fiance is the the military! I sent him my old Dell latitude CP ... I forgot that it doesn't have a phone plug to connect to the Dial up on base. Is there a way to connect to the internet I don't...

I bought my sister a Dell laptop that didn't have a dial up modem in it, never saw one that didn't have one.
Dell sells a dial up modem that goes into the usb port for about $35, which I sent to her and it works. Basically it is just an external dial up modem.
Give it a try, just call the dell help phone number.

I bought a dell latitude cp m233sd second hand and it has a few software problems. apparently the previous owner deleted alot of items they shouldnt have. how can i restore it back to the manufactured...

If you received the CD's that the original owner received with the machine, re-install Windows and all of the drivers. After that install anti-virus software and go from there. If the CD's did not come with your purchase there's not much you can do to restore without software disks.

Old dell latitude pc need to connect to dsl?

This is a long way to get home, but it should work for you. High speed would be best so you don't tie-up the phone line. Anyway, on your main PC, go to www.mikogo.com and install their software. Very small and trouble free. Next, get teh old Dell on line and go to the same website. There is a large red area on the homepage. Click on 'Join Meeting' in the upper right corner of the red and follow the prompts. You will need to click RUN twice. Eventually you will come to a window prompting for a meeting id. Go back to the other PC and launch a meeting, enter the meeting id on the laptop and click join the meeting. On the main pc click on the red M near the clock and switch presenter to the laptop. On the laptop, click on the red M and go to remote control and give RC to yourself on the other PC. You will now be driving the laptop from your main PC. Go full screen. There will be a small menu bar at the top of the screen. On the left side you will see an icon of two arrows following each other. That's the file transfer. Open that and start moving the files you want from the laptop to the main PC.

This sounds like a lot of effort, but it is really quite straight forward and easy. I have used this to work on PCs across the USA, China, Australia and New Zealand. The best thing is it is free and it offers file copy, which most of the remote software does not.

Good luck, and please let me know how it works out for you!

Connecting a cpi to the internet ?

1) You can use a PCMCIA card (for example a Dell Fast Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX by 3Com) with a 'dongle' to connect to the ethernet cable via an existing card slot on the left side.

2) You can get a docking station set-up (i.e. Latitude 'C/Dock') which comes with the ethernet cable connection. ...pretty affordable used on the 'net.

3) If you has a wireless router you could hook a wireless USB adapter tp connect wireless to yout router.

Connected on Wireless but unable to connect on Internet

If not done allready, setup the lan IP address and default gateway in win98 Click MyComputer-ControlPanel-Network-Double Click TCP/IP Adapter for your 3com device-insert LAN info for IP Adress-subnet mask, Gateway and your Internet service providors DNS Addresses info Tab's (3x different Tabs "IP Adress" "Gateway" "DNS Configuration") IP Adress will be at least one number higher than your gateway address and not allready being used by other PC's on your network and gateway address will same as your router interface address subnet mask will be the same for all PC's on your network. For 3com and Netgear routers LAN setup is usually Gateway = 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0 IP Adress = 192.168.1.10(choose alternate number than 10 if allready used by another PC on your network, try to use round numbers, must be a number higher than 1) Once all info is entered click OK (this may trigger a database info update message and task)now your LAN is setup and ready to talk to your network Restart PC and try browsing again. May possibly require reinstallation of the TCP/IP client (you double clicked this to setup your LAN in Win98) or reinstallation of the IIS(Internet Information Services)component found in, Add/Remove Programs-Add/Remove windows components and then try LAN setup again if this does not work first time round
