Sorry for the delay the stain is more likely to be the charge roller that has the smudge. or that the transfer is faulty. Replace the relevant part. Transfer is the black belt unit attached to the fron cover.

Thanks Jason

HP 3550 printer: copies are coming out with faint images of previous printing jobs

Hello,

Ghosting is caused by a failing transfer belt assembly. The transfer belt is how the printer moves the image from the colored toner cartridges to the paper. The surface has a special organic that allows the toner to be picked up and is transferred to the paper but when it gets worn down some of the toner stays on the transfer belt which causes the ghosting of the previous image. The transfer belt assembly is user replaceable and looks just like a big toner cartridge. You can get them from Office Depot or Amazon.com as well as almost any place you can get the toner for the unit. Here is a link to Amazon.com

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

I have an ink line printed on my page every time I print and it's in the same place every time. What is this happening from? Could it be the transfer kit or the fuser?

You have a scratch or a void in the toner wiper.
Locate and check the printer drum. You should be able to see the mark that is causing the line on your page. It could be a scratch or a ring of toner that the wiper is not picking up because a nick or something under it. Try cleaning the drum with a very soft dry cloth and inspect it again. If the mark is still there the drum will have to be replaced. Do Not Try To Clean The Drum With Any Type Of Solvent!

What is LSU and price of the LSU?

Instead of emitting ink, the LSU emits a laser beam, directing it at the drum of the toner cartridge so that electrostatic charge can be transferred onto the paper to form a “temporary glue” to pick up the carbons as the paper passes through the drum.

Red "Paper" light stays on; printer will not print.

Paper light flashing could mean several things on this machine.

There could be a paper jam in the machine. Open the front cover remove the drum and toner and look in the machine. You can also check in between the drum and toner by removing the toner from the drum. Open the back cover and look for a Jam as well.

Try putting a piece of paper in the manual feed tray which is right above the paper tray, sometimes on certain documents the margins are too big and asks to go into the manual feed slot.

Is my 2550L toast????.

The HP 2550 does take a while to print. It calibrates through all the cartridges & then you'll see your print soon after. You probably need your printer professionally cleaned out with a toner vacuum, the squeaking could be coming from the drum or a pick up roller.

My printer does not pick up the paper sheets from the paper tray. When I took paper sheet in to slot it works.

Well - I don't know if this will solve it (since there could be many causes) but it worked for me.

1 - Remove Paper Tray
2 - look at rubber rollers in printer undercarriage
3 - carefully remove "rubber bands" from roller
4 - turn rubber bands inside out and carefully return to rollers

5 - remove toner cartridge
6 - remove print drum assembly
7 - return printer drum assembly and toner cartridge

the roller trick helps the printer pick up paper
the toner/print drum trick helps reseat the inner workings of the printer correcting any misalignments that impede paper flow

Just a few days ago my printer will not print. It will come up with the message that says Open the printer cover and put Yellow Toner Cartridge. The yellow is in and it is not empty. I took the color out,...

Let it go through its checks. When you take the toner out, clean it, wipe off the chip (upper right) then snap it back in. It may stop with the yellow and it may continue through the other colors.

What I found, is that it is really the paper feed being out of sync. Keep with it, it will resolve itself.

Also, take out the drum and turn the paper feed forward till it clicks and realign your paper.
