SOURCE: Benq PE8700 - Won't Power Up

Hi there

Trust me that the Mainboard needs replacement.

I am very familiar with the PE8700's as I am a ASP Technician for BenQ.

Visit www.BenQ.com and look for the link to your country - you should be able to allocate a Approved Service Provider.

Must warn you that the Mainboards on these models are quite expensive.

SOURCE: Exploding bulb!

Hi Bedlam

This could have been a faulty lamp , or if it wasn't a original - in other words a Utopia lamp - that the wattage wasn't right.

Contact the supplier and tell them that the lamp blew as soon as you replaced it. The lamp should have a 30 day warranty on it.

As for the Projector , in such cases it is normally only the fuse on the Powersupply that has blown. Replace the fuse and see what happens.

If you still struggle , drop me a posting and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya !

Benq MX761 stays on for only 2 minutes and then shuts down after genuine Benq lamp replacement. Picture flickers colour just before shutdown. Lamp timer has been reset to zero.

Many LED TVs and other electronics have bad capacitors on their power supply boards. You can visually inspect them by opening the TV and looking for capacitors with bulging tops. If you see any, replace them all in the power board section. Check to see if your TV is still under warranty first though.

You're right about the power supply issue, when they become faulty they are unable to supply the proper power to the projector, and thus it randomly shuts off. Also, you are able to just replace the power supply unit, I would suggest looking on ebay or contact Benq directly for a proper replacement part.

The lamp exlpoded

I assume you have fitted a new projector lamp. If you have then I think the problem will be in the power supply, transformer. In part one clue might be the age of the lamp in terms of identifying the reason of the lamp exploding. Regards Kevin Andreassend ICE AV Technology Ltd http://www.iceav.co.nz. iceavtech@gmail.com

Hi there

A universal remote would do the job , as long as you make sure that the Universal Remote can learn IR codes which it uses to control the Projector.
