    Does TV come on and work? Most Samsungs have 3 to 4 Fans, Lamp Fan for cooling Lamp
    Ballast Board has Small tiny fan on it and this board is what powers the Lamp on,Then right behind the DMD Moduel is a Fan its between the Moduel and Light Engine,and right under the light engine is a fan. Remove Back turn TV on Watch Fans to see which one stops running.
    Does Lamp Light up?

When we shut the fridge door a loud continuous humming noise comes from the fridge. This seems to be activated by the door light switch at the top. Thank you


There are 2 possibilities I can think of for the hum. When you activate that door switch it activates 2 fans and the compressor. There is one fan located on the compressor and one located in the vent system in the fridge. The second fan is used to circulate cool air evenly through the fridge. I would recommend holding your finger on the door switch and listen carefully whether the noise is coming from inside the back of the fridge or from the lower bottom. Lower bottom could indicate compressor cooling fan or compressor. They would need to be inspected. If it sounds more like the other fan mentioned above it would again need to be inspected. The compressor cooling fans can get stuck or become noisy due to bearing failure. The vent fan can get stuck or noisy but also in some cases if the defrost circuit is not working can chock up with ice and create a buzzing noise as the fan blades strike the ice.

  1. When Monitored: Engine cranking and Engine running
  2. Set Condition: Powertrain Control Module detects an error when the camshaft position is out of phase with the crankshaft position. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.

Possible Causes

ERRATIC CAM POSITION SENSOR SIGNAL CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TONE WHEEL/PULSE RING ERRATIC CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR SIGNAL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TONE WHEEL/PULSE RING CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure).

1.ACTIVE DTC
WARNING: When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. 1. With the scan tool clear the DTC(s). 2. Start the engine and run until operating temp is reached. (Closed Loop) 3. If the DTC does not reset it may be necessary to test drive the vehicle.

Does the P0016 return?

Yes

  1. Go To 2

No
  1. Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION Diagnostic Procedure.
  2. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure)



2.CHECKING THE CMP SIGNAL WITH A LAB SCOPE

WARNING: When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. 2. Start the engine. 3. Observe the lab scope screen.

Are there any irregular or missing signals?

Yes

  1. Go To 3

No
  1. Go To 6



3.CMP WIRE HARNESS INSPECTION
1. Turn the ignition off. 2. Visually inspect the related wire harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. 3. Visually inspect the related wire harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals. 4. Make sure the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor are properly installed and the mounting bolt(s) are torqued to their proper specification. 5. Refer to any TSBs that may apply.

Were any of the above conditions present?

Yes

  1. Repair as necessary.
  2. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure)

No
  1. Go To 4



4.TONE WHEEL/PULSE RING INSPECTION
1. Remove the Camshaft Position Sensor. 2. Inspect the Tone Wheel/Pulse Ring for damage, foreign material, or excessive movement.

Were any problems found?

Yes

  1. Repair or replace the Tone Wheel/Pulse Ring as necessary.
  2. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure)

No
  1. Go To 5



5.CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR


If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

  1. Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor.
  2. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure)



6.ERRATIC CMP SIGNAL
1. Turn the ignition off. 2. Remove the lab scope probe. WARNING: When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. 3. Ignition on, engine not running. 4. With scan tool, erase DTCs. 5. Start the engine. 6. Gently tap on and wiggle the Cam Position Sensor. 7. Ignition on, engine not running. 8. Inspect the Sensor connector and harness connector, and inspect the PCM connector and harness connector for loose, bent, corroded, or pushed out pins/terminals. 9. Inspect the related wire harness and the splices in the CMP circuit.

Does the P0016 return?

Yes

  1. Repair the wiring/connector concerns as needed or replace the Camshaft Position Sensor.
  2. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure)

No
  1. Go To 7



7.CHECKING THE CKP SIGNAL WITH A LAB SCOPE

I just installed a water pump on my 2003 gmc seirra and now the fan wobbles while running


You're going to need to disassemble everything according to the manual - following sequencing and order of operations carefully. Once you've reached the wobbly fan inspect the mounting and installation carefully. 1. Was it seated snugly and correctly into place. 2. Is it tightened adequately to prevent it from coming loose? (Remember: fan mounting bolts are generally reverse threaded to accomodate for fan spin, so righty loosy, lefty tighty this time!) 3. Are there any visible cracks or other damage to the fan, especially around the base or center core where it mounts.....4. finally, remove the fan assembly and inspect the bearing and mounting hardware carefully for damage. 5. Beyond these things, the only thing I can imagine is that you somehow bent/warped the fan housing, causing the fan to spin out of true (or wobbly!)

Check that the fan is working properly, whether it is electric or a belt driven fan. A car will overheat if the fan doesn't function as originally designed.

2006 Chevy express van. Normally runs one mark below 1/2 mark. Lately ocassionally goes 1-2 marks above half way (usually when sitting idling). Have had coolant changed (Chevy dealer) and new radiator cap...


You've already eliminated #3 and #6, so keep checking...

OVERHEATING EVERY NOW AND THEN WITH COOLANT COMING OUT OF OVERFLOW BOTTLE


Inspect the following: 1.(typical on these models) Possible cooling system caps leak allowing coolant to escape and air into the system. Replace if leaking (there are 2 caps- one cap on the top LH side of the engine and one on the radiator) 2. Radiator fan- This fan on the V-6s are hydraulic driven via powersteering pump, inspect for fluid leaks and proper fluid levels. (To test fan speed, unplug the switch located on the powersteering pump and rev motor to 2000 rpm fan should pick up speed)have it checked if problematic. 3. Replace the thermostat if this hasn't been done in the last 30,000miles, possible binding or stuck (located on the LH side of the engine, under the alternator and at the back end of the coolant feeder pipe). If these all check out fine, inspect or replace the water pump. To replace the pump it requires timing belt removal and or replacement. Hopefully this helps

HI, there are three devices that control fan operation and speed as well. i recommend inspecting these three components for there operational value. test thoroughly and check the wires as well. if you detect any faults within these three devices, replace immediately. I will list the parts to inspect and there respective definitions as well.

Problem spots to inspect--

1.Inspect the Cooling fan switch-- The cooling fan switch on electric fans monitors coolant temperature signals from the engine control computer. When the engine is cool, the switch opens to keep the fan from spinning. When engine is warm, the switch closes to turn fan on for cooling.

2. Inspect the Cooling Fan Control-- This module Reads the temperature of the coolant and passes the information to the engine control computer (ECC). The ECC receives analog information and signals the cooling fan switch to cycle the cooling fan on or off, as required.(controls actual speed as well)

3. Inspect the Temperature switch-- A bi-metal, heat activated, switching device that controls an electrical circuit based on engine metal/coolant temperature. It controls the cooling fan(s), temperature light or gauge, fuel mixture, emissions controls and electronic-control unit functions. It's usually made of brass or stainless steel and uses a tapered pipe thread (NPT) for dependable sealing. replace if faulty.

You will find the problem in one or all of the above discussed areas.

1998 gmc envoy heater problem, fan is working fine but is blowing cold air on defrost and heater.


Do you smell antifreeze? If you do, then your heater core needs replacing.
If not then try these solutions:
