Question about Maytag Ice2O 19.8 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Bottom-Mount Freezer - White

Open Question

We recently moved & our Maytag fridge (model#MFI2569VEW) is runnign very cold. the in the door compartment section on the right hand door is where we normally put milk, etc to keep a little extra cold... The milk & other products from the bottom shelf are freezing solid (especially items in the door compartments)... As you move up on the shelves then it gets warmer- at no point is the fridge "warm" though. We normally keep ther firdge at the recommended 38 degrees, but have tried raisinhg the fridge temp to fix the freezing issues, but that hasn't helped. Currently even itemss in the fruit & vegetable drawers freezes also... How can I fix this?....

SOURCE: bottom vegetable/fruit drawer freezing fruit

to the left of the bottom drawer is a veg/meat slide switch.make sure it is all the way on veg.if it is on meat,it opens a small doorway to the freezer and lets the cold air in and will freeze the food in the bottom drawer.in some cases, you will need to remove the drawer and shelf and then take apart the doorway.ball up some putty and jam it it the hole to completely seal it off

SOURCE: water leaking inside of refrigerator from freezer

The defrost drain is frozen, you need to take the cover off inside the freezer and there will be a drain hole probably coverd with ice, you will need to pop most of the ice out first then I use a turkey baster and a tub of hot water. Squirt the hot water in the hole over and over again untill it drains. Then just wipe everything down. Problem solved.

SOURCE: Food in fridge is freezing.

I need your model number, you may have a problem with your thermistat. Sears uses a different model number system than everyone. The model number will look like this 231.0564879 for example. Or yours may have electronic vents. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: food (vegetables, fruits) on the refrigerater side freezing

Your model has a control damper inside the vent. The damper opens and closes with changes in temperature. It has a pig tail spiral thermostat on the side and if it goes bad the door sticks open or closed. Sometimes it is just frost but you will need to get to it. I will send photos and links in a moment, Thanks Sea Breeze

Refrigerator section stopped cooling, but the freezer section still works.

Hi. There is a valve in the top corner of the frigde that controls the cold Air to flow from the freezer to cool the fridge. This valve called a damper closes when the door is opened. You have to depress the door switch and listen for the fan in the freezer to switch on then feel for cold air to flow into the fridge compartment. The fan could have failed or the damper valve could be stuck closed.

Samsung freezes but not cooling

You need to post the model of the fridge for precise answers. In general, all refrigerators work by making the freezer section very cold and then opening/closing vent doors to blow some of that cold into the fridge compartment. There is a thermostat in the fridge section that opens the vent door when things need to be cooler, closes the door when cool enough. Look for that door and see that it works and make sure the blower is running and door vent not blocked (or frozen shut).

On my Maytag side by side, stainless steel fridge, Model #: MSD2651KES. The freezer works perfectly, but the fridge will not get cold, but if you open the freezer it will start sending cold air to the...

Its defrost problem.--------- When you open the freezer door, then ice starts getting defrosted, because outside temperature is warm and due to that inside ice gets bit melted.--------- -------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. ----------- The damper is operated by a motor. Its a complete damper assembly with motor included in it.--The damper has door.Which closes and open with the help of motor. In your case the damper door is blocked by ice, because your refrigerator is not defrosting. But when you open the freezer door, the inside ice gets bit warm and it starts melting and this lets the fridge section get cool.------------------- In this case you will have to manually defrost the ice and inspect, if the problem solves. For manual defrost procedure, click the link below:-------- Click this below for more detail:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/refrigerator-is-not-cooling-properly.html ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Fridge is warm, was collecting water inside. Freezer is working fine. Increased temp but not responding. It is a bottom freezer model

send the model number off of the fridge,if the freezer is working fine then no air is being blown up to the fridge section, all it does is blow cold air from the freezer to the fridge section so either the door was left open and this is very common with a bottom mount freezer or the evap fan isn't blowing or on some models there's a damper inside the fridge section, the damper door opens and closes to let cold air in,when it reaches temp. the door closes, sometimes the door gets stuck in the closed position or the open position and the fridge freezes or gets warm depending on where the door is.first thing open the freezer door,do you hear the fan blowing,if not you could have a bad evap. fan motor, next look at the ceiling and on the packages,do you see frozen water droplets,if so the door was left open and the air ducts are froze up from the warm air getting in from the door being open and mixing with the cold air freezes up the air ducts, also stick your hand onto the back inside wall of the freezer,if there's like snow or frost on the inside back wall of the freezer you could have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board depending on the model or last a bad damper, when you open the fridge door there are air ducts usually up top and in the middle you should feel cold air blowing in,this is your problem the air isn't making it into the fridge section.if the door was left open, unplug the fridge, remove the food from the freezer and with a hair dryer heat up the back inside wall of the freezer and blow the hot air into the air vent holes in the back wall to melt out the air ducts, keep heating it up until you don't see any more water dripping, you can see the water dripping through the vent holes.so let me know what you find, send the model number and we can go from there.look up near the ceiling in the fridge section on the right hand wall and you should see a tag with the model and serial numbers, send the full model number so i can see what you have in your machine.

Freezer works, refrigerator does not cool

Often the cooling section is located in the freezer and their is a hidden fan that blows the cold air into the lower section. If the fan quits working the refrigiator section wil not be cool.

FRIDGE NOT WORKING

Most side by side and other models of refrigerator freezer combinations are of one basic design. The freezer section does the cooling for both compartments. The refrigerator section gets it cold air from the freezer compartment. Therefore check for frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost is present there you have a defrost problem and it is cutting off the air that cools the refrigerator section.

I think this problem may already be resolved in some manor because of the date of post. Posts should expire after an unreasonable time period.

Warm Fridge Section

sounds like the evaporator fan in the freezer is not moving the air. also there is an air damper door at the top center of the fridge that controls air flow from the freezer to the fridge. check those two components and you will find your problem.
