Question about Nikon Coolpix L11 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Help!!! i dropped my Nikong Coolpix L11 camera on the pavement. The lens got dented in, so naturally i popped it back to its normal place i turned it on and it worked for about 30 seconds and then popped but with the image that said "Lens Error". So i turned it off then turned it back on and it did the same thing. It did that for about 10 minutes and now as soon as i turned it on it says "Lens Error". I cant figure out how to fix it, i've tried slightly tapping it against my desk, i've tried holding down the camera taking button while turning it on, i've tired rearraging the lense on it, & i've tired replacing the batteries. What else can i do to try and fix it? Should i just take it to a professional? Or should i just buy a new camera?

Hello

there are tiny plastic gears inside and may have chipped or a small piece of sand got in causing the lens to jamb. "very fragile"

one solution is to ask a camera repair shop how much a lens mechanism would be to replace. (if cost is more than 1/2 of what you paid dont bother)

another solution is to have someone sell your camera on an auction site for parts, to make some money towards another camera purchase

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Nikon Coolpix L11 Lense Error

Hello that would be "lens error", which means the camera may have been dropped, bumped or possibly a piece of sand/dirt got inside the lens mechanism.

Nikon L11 lens error

Hey meghanB,
One thing you could try is placing the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointed upwards and press and hold the shutter button, while doing this turn the camera on. When you do this the camera should try to focus which sometimes will force the lens back on track. If this doesn't work you should have it looked at by an authorized service technician. You could bring it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out to be looked at. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

I just wrote a warning about these "telescoping lens" cameras, You need to get the lens back on track. maybe steady pressure, applied to the back of the camera with the lens on a towel on a table to ensure it remains parallel to the camera body.
