SOURCE: DVD will not close its door

Open it up (take the screws out) and see if one of the door tracks came out. Just snap it back in place.

SOURCE: My dvd player model dvp615 doesn´t play dvd discs.

You need to try to clean the laser head and the transport. To do this you will need cotton swabs, isopropyl alcohol and small cans of lithium grease and compressed air.. Open the up the compartment that the dvd discs are placed. In the center of the compartment you will find the spindle and a laser transport. In the transport you will see the laser head. Take a cotton swab and put a small amount of alcohol on the tip. Rub the tip of swab gently across the head of the laser. Do this until the head look bright and shines. Use the other end of the swab to dry the excess moisture off the laser head. Take another swab and use a small amount of alcohol on the tip and go around the transport device cleaning the dust and dirt from it. Use a small can of compressed air to blow away any dust and dirt in the compartment. Once the laser head is cleaned and the transport is cleared of dust and dirt, Move the transport to the outer most point and bring it back in to its closest point. Do this several times. Do not apply to much pressure while doing it.If you find ruff and uneven action. Clean the areas of problem and return the transport action to smooth and easy operation. If still not smooth and easy. Take another cotton swab and use some lithium grease in very small amounts to lubricate the transport rails. Again move the transport back and forth to lubricate the laser transport. This should return the transport to normal action. Now play a music cd to calibrate the laser head . Let the cd play through a couple of times. After doing this you can now try a dvd disc and it should play normally. If it still does not play correctly, check the spindel to see if it is loose. If this is the case use a drop of super glue to tighten it up. Let it dry completely and try the disc again. It should work correctly. If you are still having a problem. You either have a problem with the laser itself or the drive motor. The drive motor problem would usually be noticed on the playing of the cd. The laser head and the motor can be replaced if this is the problem. You can find more information on how to do these repairs on you tube. Put cleaning and repairing portable dvd players in the search engine and it will bring up videos on how people have done these types of repairs. I hope this information will help you with your problem.

Toshoba tv/dvd combo. won't play many dvd's. makes clicking sound as it tries to load movie?

Dear Lesley!
It looks, like your DVD lens might get contaminated with dust and/or dirt, which is being picked up off DVDs. Let's try to load music CD, instead or DVD. If it loads well, I will suggest, that your DVD player is at fault and you must give up using it. External basic DVD players are quite inexpensive and easy to connect to your TV. But: if no CD, nor DVD load, the solution might be much simpler: use lens cleaner CD with brushes. good ones might even have a special fluid, which applied to brushes(alcohol based). Just load it into your TV's player and follow audible directions. After couple attempts, your lens should be clean enough to play DVDs. Please, don't try to use any "ear swabs", instead. The lengths is not long enough, plus it may damage load mechanism or get stuck inside. I've seen such a cases lately.
Good luck,
Thank you,
Alex.

Hi,I have an issue with Sony DVD player where in it plays the CD/DVD quite good for a while say may be around 20 mins, then gets struck...doesnot detect the DVD/CD once in a while...could u help me on this

Have you tried using a CD/DVD cleaner disc???? you can pick one up at any drug store, walmart, target, etc. I would first try that. If its the same CD/or DVD, then I would say thats the problem, a scratch on it will and it will stop playing, but you need to clean your players once in a while.....hope this helps you....

Not reading, seems to be laser pick-up problem have tried cleaning it sometimes plays for about 1 hour before getting stuck, and after that the laser wont focus

Sounds like the motors that control the angle and focus of the laser are going bad. Either find out what kind of replacement laser assembly would be needed and order it online, or get a new DVD player.

Dvd player will not open disc, display lock

Sound like it either has one or two problems, the door is stuck and or the door eject motor has failed. Look in the front to the player for a small paperclip like hole, and use a paper clip to manual eject the and engage the loading mechanism usually located under the door for most cases. Check you manuals troubleshooting section for manually ejecting a CD..

DVD DOESNOT PLAY REAL PLAYER VIDEO

This model cannot play real player video files your model work on DVD, CD, and on the following compressed file formats:

Compression formats - MPEG1 , MPEG2 , DivX 3.11 , DivX 4.x , DivX 5.x , DivX 6.0

Your player can play only mpeg , avi , and divx, not real player .rm files. I don't think there are many DVD that can play real player files around.

Sony CDP-C505 door stuck open

The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.
If the disc starts to spin slowly and doesn’t come up to speed, the spindle motor that’s attached to the turntable platter is a common problem. There could also be a problem with the spindle motor driver controller IC or the power supply regulator that supplies voltage to the driver IC. If the disc starts to spin and then spins really fast, or stops and starts to spin backwards, your problem is the laser pick-up assembly or the servo control circuit. If you continue to have problems after cleaning and checking the other things listed above, you may have a problem with the player's alignment. Of course, one of the problems you'll face checking alignments on a DVD/CD player is that you’re going to need to use an oscilloscope on most of them. If you have the proper tools and equipment, the first thing to look at is the RF pattern of the unit while its playing. It should be a sharp and clear pattern. If it's dull and smeared, then the laser could be weak.
Also, in these units are very critical alignments called the focus/tracking gains and offsets. When these alignments are off, it can often cause intermittent troubles. As the unit ages and parts change value, so do these alignments, and will need to be checked. In my time as service technician repairing DVD/CD players, 65% of the laser pick-up assembles I have tested were good and only needed a small adjustment. Today's technology makes it unfeasible for a shop to hook up a DVD/CD player, and even some recorders, to their equipment and make these adjustments because of the cost involved.

Hope this may help;

Kenwood RXD25 CD player intermitent??

Hi jenoss

Sounds like the unit has either a failing load belt to the cd drawer mechanism, not allowing the transport to fully load the cd. Give the unit a gentle tap just after the drawer closes and see if it resolves the problem.

OR a faulty spindle motor, you will have to take the lid off and after pressing play, give the disc a gentle "kickstart". If it then begins to run, then the motor is the problem.

If you find it is neither of these, get back to me here and I we shall go further
