G'day Loraine, Is your connection wireless or cable. If cable, how is your modem connected, USB or lan port? When you say "internet Security" do you mean your anti-virus/firewall software. If this is the case, then download COMODO internet security package. Its free and one of the best available. You can download it here [http://comodo.com]

I had a similar problem and this worked for me
with Trend Micros Internet Security.
You will have to uninstall the program first then reinstall it, otherwise it
will hang and cause problems with your computer.
In order to uninstall it do these steps.
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > System Configuation.
Makes sure you select Selective Startup, and that Load Startup Items is unchecked.
Click OK, and you should be prompted to reboot.
After you reboot and the system is loaded your Virus Software icon will NOT
be in the taskbar trying to load.
Now go into control panel > Programs and Features.
Find the virus program, hightlight and select the uninstall option.
After its done doing that go back into the Control Panel >
Administrative Tools > System Configuration. Select Normal Startup
and hit the OK button.
Reboot again when you see the button prompt.
Now, after the system comes up, reinstall your virus software,
You should be good to go from there.
The process is for Vista, but if your running Windows XP it is very similar.
