Try this if your timer motor fails........

My timer motor failed on two units; would be $500 to replace both transformers.

I did the following with great success for less than $30 each:

You can always just remove all the pins from the failed timer and set the unit to on. Then plug the whole transformer into a heavy duty outside timer. Outside timers range from $25 to $60 and are available as digital units with more flexibility; and no moving parts. The timer I found adjusts automatically for sunset and then the off time I choose.

Here is the model timer I have:

I've done a lot of reading and research on Malibu

No replacement parts for Power pack, or schematic >> Malibulights.com shows replacement lights and replacement power packs
Manual for Malibu 600 Watt power pack

SAVE the pins off old power pack and see if they match pins on new power pack ... because you can't find pins on the internet

When the power pack goes bad or you lose the pins, then you buy another power pack

Things to remember:
Match number of lights to power pack wattage
30 - 20 Watt bulbs => 30 x 20 = 600 Watt power pack
Replace bulbs as soon as they burn out, or other bulbs will burn out quickly, and I think it causes power pack to burn out sooner too.

Up-vote if this helped. Thanks for the feedback.

My ml600tw timer is not working. The unit has power, but the timer will not turn.

If the clock dial is not rotating, the clock motor has gone bad.
Easiest solution is set power pack in override so lights are on, then plug power pack into cheap plug-in timer.
Some people report being able to disassemble clock motor and add vaseline to gears to restore functionality. Other peole report not remembering how all the tiny gears fit back together.
My experience is that once motors slow down and overheat, they never work correctly again.
There are no replacement clock motors for power packs.

The transformer will work if I manually turn the dial. The dial will not automatically turn anymore.

If the bulbs turn on when you manually rotate dial, then the power pack has electricity.
A lot of people ask for replacement Malibu tripper pins on Fixya, and it sounds like your trippers are working fine.
If clock has stopped rotating, that means the power pack has malfunctioned, and needs to be replaced.

I did find some tips to help folks preserve their power packs:
1) Match wattage of bulbs with wattage of power pack
-15 each X 20 watt bulbs = 300 watts, so install 300Watt power pack
2) Installing a 500W power pack on 300W of bulbs will burn out bulbs and power pack.
3) Replace bulbs as soon as they burn out or other bulbs will burn out and power pack will burn out.
4) When working on bulbs, unplug power pack or it may burn out.

Need red plastic timer clips for my ML600TW. Transformer works, but only have one red movable clip for setting a time. Timer may be broken, but would like to try installing the on/off clips first. Any idea...

Malibu landscape transformer

If it is keeping time try moving the stops. If it is not keeping time the motor is probably burned out. These transformers don't have a lot of serviceable parts to them.
