SOURCE: Monitor keeps blank even the power lLED is on green

I suspect the problem is with the monitor itself. I have had the same problem. I reported it to Dell and they sent me a new monitor within a few days the problem resurfaced again on the new monitor. They have since sent me a new monitor and the problem has disappeared. The Dell customer service people sounded rather cagy to me when I suggested that this was a problem endemic to this model. The replacement monitor that I have had a sticker on the box that read "refurbished". This is a rather new model of monitor to already be into selling "refurbished" models. If you are still under warranty I suggest you call them. And even if you aren't, call them anyway. I sense that they know about this problem.

SOURCE: dead samsung 172n power light flickers

Have you checked the power output from the power board? Is it constant and steady? Try reflowing all the joints if you haven't already. Especially transformer and coil joints. Maybe a bad logic board? Do you have spares to try? Does it do this with everything disconnected from the pwr board (switch, logic, inverter)?

LG Flatron W2253v backlight blinking.

The powering off and on the back light is due to bad capacitors. Go ahead and explore the internal power supply. This is a very common issue on LCD I have fixed about 8 of these ranging from 1 yr of use to 9 yrs of use. I own 4 LCDs and have fixed 3 of them. 2-X2Gen, 1 Samsung and one Viewsonic. The latter one is running with out an issue and the one I use the most.
Once you open your lcd look for plunged capacitors. Replace as necessary. The fix should cost you less than 20 bucks
Check this pics for power supply removal, bad caps and new caps.
Well, pictures are over 4mb let me know if you are interested in seeing more pictures relating to this fix.

Samsung Syncmaster LCd monitor hissing standbye mode takes 1hr to start up, is it faulty? is it dangerous to leave on or use more power usage???, would it be windows 7 causing it or a graphics card thanks.

Hello,

The hissing sound is coming from the power supply board. It is not dangerous per say but it indicates the power supply is failing and you will begin to have more problems such as wavy picture, slow to display the picture and then finally no picture at all. We have repair guides posted on our web site at: www.ccl-la.com for several Samsung monitors and a repair kit is available for this model at: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=116 You should be able to repair your monitor if you can do a little soldering. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for this model, it runs $32 plus shipping and you can get more information about this at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Having the same problem. Took it to a repair shop and they say it is some capacitors and the power supply... Which seems kinda hinky to me... I would think one or the other would be the problem, not both at the same time.

HP mx703 monitor does not power on; ticking noise

It seems that the transformer of the monitor has gone bad, as it makes a click sound. The cable could be the one which gets connect to the picture tube, or just for earthing.

It sounds like the port where the power cable plugs into is loose and shorting out. You may be able to dis-assemble the monitor and repair or replace the port. They are usually soldered in and the solder connection may have come loose. If it plus into the circuit board you might be able to fix the plug or tighten the screw if it is held by one.

Samsung 2253bw lcd monitor makes loud, fast ticking noise > 10hz. Noise occurs even when monitor is powered off with switch.

Turned out ticking noise was harmonic vibration triggered by a nearby airconditioning compressor. Once I guessed the cause, putting a rubber pad under the monitor to dampen the vibrations eliminated the ticking. Removing the pad caused the ticking to reoccur. Ditto with turning the A/C off or on. Weird!
