Try this :
This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .

it sounds crazy .

Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY

Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.

Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.

It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).

beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.

This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

Can an Instinct that has water damage be repaired? Is it worth repairing?

You can put it into a bag of rice (dont laugh) for about 3 days after removing the battery and then try to see if it will work but if that fails then I am afraid it is dead.

BTW the rice draws out moisture.

Water damage

Remove the battery and let the unit sit for a day or two. It takes a lot longer to dry out than it seems. If it doesn't work after that amount of time, the water probably did permanent damage. The cell company's regular warranty covers defects, but their premium insurance should cover even water damage. If they don't cover it at all, the repair cost probably isn't worth it if you can get a deal on a new phone. Definitely worth a shot to call or stop in your cell company's physical store and chat them up.

What to do is this,

Unscrew the phone,
Get a Methylated spirit and a brush,
Bring out the board of the phone and use the methylated spirit to brush off remaining water on phone.
Keep under heat to dry off,
After board is dried, fix it back and screw back phone.

Am sure after doing this phone will work well.
But if phone still doesn't work ,that means water has damage some component inside the phone.
You will need to consult a phone technician for assistance.
Take care.

My j700i is not starting up??

The best idea would be to return it to Samsung Service Centre for repair but if the phone has been water damaged Samsung will define the phone as BER (Beyond Economical Repair) and will refuse to repair the phone.

Worth a shot!

I wont suggest you to get it reparied because it would change all parts and mainly it main chip which will cost you as much money on as much buying new cellphone. So i would recommend buying new cellphone.

Hit pot hole airbags went off

I wouldn't drive it if the steering wheel bag is raised slightly. I would have it removed before I did. Don't want it going off when some kids are crossing the street in front of you... These are expensive to repair as you have guessed. My guess is well over 2K depending if you get used or new parts. The value of the puegot is worth more than the replacement costs especially if you get used parts that are good. Also depends upon mileage and whether the car has body damage, etc. hope this helps you, Rick

I have a water damaged Blackberry 8100 Pearl. Is it worth fixing ?

You may be able to salvage your sim card. As for the phone, I think you will find it is beyond economical repair.

LG TG800F phone. inoperable, (dropped in water). Suggestions? Thanks

Hi there, water damaged mobiles are a difficult problem because it can cause many faults and short out many things on the board, it maybe worth trying to clean with a solution but chances are if its been immersed in water then there really isnt much point as there may be ongoing problems or perhaps it will be uneconomical to repair.
