SOURCE: lens cover wont move

You probably didn't wash the camera after using it underwater specially in salt water. The salt will dry inside the lens and may cause this problem. Try soaking the camera for a while - wash it according to the manual's instructions. Hopefully soaking it will clear the deposits and clear the lens. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Camera will not power down, power switch issue?

I don't have any experience with this camera, but it does sound like either the switch contacts are corroded, or the switch is broken. Since you mention moisture, we'll go with that. You will have to probably take the camera apart to a measurable degree to inspect and clean the contacts, and that may require a service manual, unless you can find someone to walk you through it, that's been there, done that. I know on some types of cameras, you have to totally dissassemble the entire body to replace a broken power switch- a common problem on certain Sonys, it seems. Moisture can affect both the electrical and mechanical parts in a camera, and often render it unaffordable to service and repair. Wish I had an easy "fix" to tell you about, but sometimes there just isn't one.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

SOURCE: Camera will not turn on.

The camera is not coming on because movement of the lens is restrcted. The problem could be that some dust is stuck in the lens well between the lens housing and the well wall. Please use your hairdryer to blow the specs of dust and free the lens movement. Once the dust is dislodged, the lens will move freely and the camera will bootup.

Lens gets stuck, and makes a clicking noise when trying to open

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. With the camera closed and off point it straight up (lens towards the ceiling) and hit the power button while holding down the shutter release. When the camera opened, it immediately tried to focus for the picture it was told to take, and apparently it forced the lens to move.
You can also try blowing compressed air around the lens cover to clean it. Now slide a thin strip of paper between the lens cover shutters and the outer support ring and move it around 360 degrees. This will clear the debris stuck there.

With the lens barrel extended and pointed downward, tap the lens barrel with a pencil while you extend and retract the lens by powering the camera on and off. Repeat these steps several times to resolve the issue.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Canon Rebel XT dial only advances one direction

I have not seen this on that model or any of the other similar models of Canon.

You have done everything I would recommend. Esp with you updating the firmware, I really think you have a hardware problem.

I would contact Canon. They do have Auth repair centers or you can contact them and send it in to the Canon factory, it depends on the repair. I just had lens repaired on my 40d, and I sent it in to CA, and it only took about 10 days.

Good luck, it sucks when something like that goes bad.

Lens wont retract

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture ondisplay, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacingbatteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restartingcamera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try aneasy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them)while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the modeselector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair frommanufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.

Mamiya RZ 67 lens is stuck on body

This is likely because the shutter has not been cocked all the way. Return the lens to the fully locked position and advance the film with the lever all the way down to reset the shutter. If it still doesn't work, move the lever to M for multiple exposure, make sure the back is aligned and trip the shutter release. Then fully **** the shutter again by pressing the advance lever down fully and again until it is reset. Then try to remove the lens again.

Nikkormat FT

I have a Nikkormat FT, and I can assure you that there is no "timer" button on this camera. There is, however, a timer lever to the left of the lens if you are looking at the front of the camera. As for the light meter, have you tried moving the film advance lever to the "cocked" position, since that turns on the meter.

Canon SD 850 says lens error,

There could be a number of reasons for the lens error. ie. . sand in camera, impact damage etc. Typically the lens can be dissasembled and repaired by a competent camera repair technician. If you are certain that you did not damage the camera in any way I would send it back to canon for a warranty repair. If you however think you could have damaged it you are probably looking at around $100 to repair the camera. Hope this helps!

Slr mirror is stuck. remove the lens and try to slightly move the mirror up and down ( but not forcing it to move!)and pushing the shutter switch. Try also applying lighter fluid in the mechanism while operating or shooting, fluid will help loosen the stucked mechanism.
