Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Can not connect to internet through wireless router...

I have a dell inspiron 600m with a wireless card that was installed at the factory. When I moved we used to have a linksey system that worked great. Now we bought a netgear wireless router and we are having a problem with it connect to the internet. It shows that I have a full signal strength on the lap top but no connection. When I run the ethernet cable from the modem to the laptop it works. What are some suggestions to on this matter. I also can not access the router like said on the netgear web site.

First thing as ur able to access internet using ethernet cable, that indicates that ur router is fine. Now, also as u mentioned signal strength is excellent still its not getting connected, what u have to do is : click start then run type cmd and press enter it will open up command prompt or if ur using vista then click start >all programs> click accessories>right click command prompt>click run as administrator it will take u to the command prompt screen there  type ipconfig and press enter and check what is the ip address if ip address is like 169.254.----- then that it indicates that ur comp and router are not able to communicate wirelessly u have o set up a new wireless network. and if ip address is like 192.168.0.4 and default gateway is 192.168.0.2 then u don't require to setup a new connection  now in any case run this following command on the same command prompt window netsh int ip reset reset.log and press enter and then run this command netsh winsock reset catalog press enter it will ask u to restart and then restart the laptop after that try connecting if still not able to access internet then connect ethernet cable open internet explorer type in this address 192.168.0.1 and press enter it will ask for username and password that is admin and password respectively and it will take u to netgear settings  and from there setup a new wireles network......... try this if not able to do so revert to me.

no you dont you have wireless capability on your laptop. just turn on your wireless, click on it and it will show you all internet connections just click on your router name and it will connect. same when your away hotel will tell you their router name or (ssid) as its called.

hope this helps.

My dell inspiron 1100 will not connect wirelessly to the internet i have a router and high speed internet

the dell inspiron 1100 doesn't have an intergrated wireless card unless you had a card put in it when you bought it, will not connect to the net with wireless if you have any more Q's, and this goes for the tower and the laptop as far as I know .

Wireless network problem with Dell Inspiron 600m.

Your wireless router is acting as the mechanism to hand out IP addresses using DHCP.

Sometimes glitches occur and I would recommend unplugging your wireless router from its power surce, letting it sit for a minute or two and replug it back in.

It will come back to life , reset itself and start handing out IP addresses to all computers and peripherals that normally connect to the router.

Dell insprion laptop contains wlan card or not?

Well I think for the 600m, it has built-in wireless already thus making it wireless capable.

I have installed my WBR-1310 wireless G Router, but can not get my Dell inspiron labtop to connect to the internet.

Have you connected to the WBR-1310with an ethernet cable and typed http://192.168.1.1 in your browser to setup the wireless SSID? If so, does your Dell show a wireless network available and is the Dell wireless card turned on?

Inspiron 6400 detects networks but does not connect to internet

Make sure you are connecting to your own internet connection through your wireless router and not on your neighbor's.....limited connectivity means you are out of reach or signal is blocked....

My wireless internet shows connected, but it won't display a page

My Dell Inspiron Mini 10 would not connect to wireless Internet. Tried all the fixes but only restore to previous date worked. Last time I restored I got message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file." I could not find any way to fix this so I tried to restore to original factory. I followed directions, f12 boot from CD but when I get to "Agree to Licensing Agreement" none of the keys work except ESC. I was able to get on the Dell Tech Chat at http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs (you need your Service Tag) tried same steps I did but keys would not work so they sent me a new hard drive that I can install myself.
Evidently there is no way to fix this. Tech says wireless will work with new hard drive. I hope so.

Can not connect to internet using wireless

Did you input the WEP key? I will assume you are using Windows XP. So go to control panel, network connections and then go to the wireless connection and then select view wireless connections double click on the one with the highest strength, which should be your 2wire. When it asks for the network security key type in the numbers that are located on the sticker on the bottom of your router between the [########] brackets.

Dell Inspiron 6000 with network card Intel/Pro Wireless 2200 BG

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.

Good luck
