Question about Televison & Video
Hi you know the control that dont work do you still have it??
if you do have you checked the terminals have got no corrosion on them as it only takes a small amount of corrosion to cause loss of connection.
so check that 1st
if you still have the remote have you tried taking it apart and giving the pads behind the buttons a good clean and also the contacts the pads touch on the circuit board, usually the problem is something being spilled on it as it only needs a few drops of tea or pop to cause a pad to stick and this will prevent the control from working.
have a look at the control remove the battery cover and look for hidden screws inside battery compartment and under any stickers then remove these screws, then the chances are the top and bottom case is clipped together with little plastic clips so run a flat bladed screw driver along the edges until you hear it come free of the clips.
one you have split the case in half take the part with the rubber buttons on it it will be a big rubber pad with all the buttons attatched to it well take this out and put it in some warm soapy water and leave it to soak for few minutes whilst you look at the circuit board.
now with the board check the battery contacts are connected properly and that their are no wires worked loose to the batterys.
then look at the circuit board where the button pads press when you press a button you should see loads of round circuit type things, now give these a good wipe with a damp lint free cloth such as flanel, make sure its damp and not dripping wet so run it under hot tap then wring all the water out so its damp then give the circuit board a good wipe where the pads are rub quite hard to remove any stains or sticky stuff after you have done this let it all dry and have a close leek at it and check for any corrosion on any of the pads, if you see any corrosion get a match and use the wood end to rub away any corrosion and clean the contacts with this match or even broken tooth pick the wooden type, then when its fully clean leave it to one side.
now go to the pads in the soapy water now whilst it still in the water get a washing up sponge and give both sides a good clean front and back, dont press to hard on the back where the contacts are the touch the circuit board try and give each pad a clean on its own to ensure its fully clean and got no corrosion or sticky stuff from tea or pop stuck on it.
then take it out the soapy water and run it under the cold tap until all the soap is off run it under on both sides so its perfectly clean.
then get some kitchen roll and get it as dry as you can shake all the water off and get into all the little bits to get all the water out. now leave it to dry for at least an hour then check to make sure its perfectly dry.
once its dry put the control back together and put some new batterys in making sure their in the correct way, then give it a try and you should find you will have a fully working remote.
now if i have wrote all that and you tell me you no longer have the remote theni should have waited for your reply,
anyway with these all for one remotes they are pretty useless all they can really do is change the channels 1 through 9 and usually the channel up and down works and also the sound works but other than that all the other features usually wont work anything unless your very lucky and you keep doing the auto scan until you found the one that controls your telly properly.
when you do the auto scan dont save the first code that works the telly keep scanning and try saving the second code when it usually switches the telly into standby.
also when your doing the auto scan feature once its turned the telly onto standby try pressing the other buttons on the remote such as the number to bring the telly back on then try the vol button and any other button you need to use, it will allow you to press the other buttons as long as you dont press the button to save the code or press the standby button again
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
