Question about Televison & Video
Received a shock from the control buttons while cleaning the screen. Now the volume is stuck on max. The indicator bar that shows when you are controlling volume stays on the screen. The remote does not solve the problem. The indicator light, next to the power button is flashing. Is this an easy fix? Is it more cost effective to try to get it fixed, or just buy a new TV?
It seems that you most likely allowed some liquid to flow down to the circuit board. I can probably gaurantee that there is damage done to the control circuits for the uPC or the uPC itself.
You will have to give the set out for service. You may be lucky and it is only the control board including its electonics that has to be replaced. If the damage was done to the uPC or if there is a damaged buffer IC on the main circuit board between the uPC and the control panel this repair will be very costly compared to just replacing the control panel cirucuit board.
When cleaning a TV screen use a very soft lint free tissue paper. Use only some light spray of a very weak or diluted glass cleaner, or just water on to the tissue paper. Never put enough liquid that there is a possiblity of some of it dripping down in to the circuit board.
I personal use a light spray of water on a soft tissue. This is safe, and will not remove the optical coating on the screen surface.
