HI,

It's probably your air vent/overflow. You likely have hard water and the hose is limed up. Depending on set up you may be able to clean it without taking anything apart, or you may have to unclamp the hose under your sink. Use a product like C-L-R or Lime-A-Way (or vinegar in a pinch), let it sit for an hour or so. Heavy deposits will take several applications.

Goodluck,

Water not heating

Dish washers only use water supplied from the hot water side of the pipes under the cabinet or sink, so if you installed the dishwasher yourself, be sure that you ran your inlet water line and connected it to the hot water side, and not the cold water side. The dish washer has heating elements inside the machine to dry the dishes, not heat the water. If this is hooked up correctly and you are still getting cold water to heat the dishes, the problem may be that the unit is too far from the hot water tank. In that case, you may need an auxiliary hot water tank installed near the dishwasher under the cabinet. They make small tanks for such purposes.

My dish washer has started to flash Err 7 on the screen and will not work. I ahve cleaned everyhting out, put drainO down the drain, turned it off for 1 week then back on again, checked that the hoses

F7--7 Flashes--Flow meter failure. Flow meter defect. Water inlet valve defect or water inlet hose blocked

make sure water is getting to your machine, its possible that the hose is kinked and not feeding water sufficiently to the machine.

alternatively, Unplug the appliance.
Take it out of it's position.
Take the left side panel off.

In the large plastic tank on the left side of the machine is the flow meter.
It's a small pcb with a 2 wire plug on it.

Pull the plug off and push it on again.
Do this several times to clean up the connection.

Ensure the connection is dry and tight.

Try the machine again.

If it still doesn't work, you'll need to obtain and fit a new flow meter to try and cure the problem.

Here are some of the possible causes; 1. Low on water (fill the machine, let it start and see if the unit has enough water). Sometimes the screen on the fill valve get partially clogged and slows the flow and when the timer engages and therefore enough water was not installed. 2. Defective fill valve (partially sticking valve sometimes will not let a unit get the proper amount of water before the unit starts and therefore the powder in not dissolved). (3)Any detergent will generally dissolve when contacted with water, unless is has had previous contact with water or is old....

The waste water backs up into the dishwasher when sink is plugged

Dishwasher manufacturers recommend a syphon break be fitted - but usually there is not a problem if your sink has an overflow pipe incorporated.

You have a partially blocked drain - causing wastewater to flow into the dishwasher instead.

Use 1/2 a cup of caustic soda or proprietary drain cleaner down the sink drain. Add about a pint of water, and leave overnight.
Next morning pour a full boiling kettle down the drain which should move things on and clear the drain.
You may have to repeat this process once, but is preferable to taking your pipework apart - which is next if this does not clear it.

My stainless steel dishwasher smells

You need to check to see if the drain line runs from the dishwasher pump to either a "T" on your kitchen sink drain or if it connects directly to the garbage disposal. Either connection is okay. However, water can run downhill from either connection to your dishwasher. To prevent dirty water from your sink or garbage disposal from running downhill to the dishwasher, you may have to install a dishwasher air gap. This can be purchased at a appliance parts store or a home improvement store like a Home Depot or Lowes. It is a "Y" shaped device that should be installed above the dishwasher drain line connection under the sink. As water will not run up hill, you need to make sure that the Air Gap is installed higher than the drain line's connection under the sink. "The Air Gap device should be mounted as high as you can under the sink."

Dishes are not getting clean..glasses are covered in crud

Try refilling the rinse agent, and cleaning out the bottom of the unit. If the dish washer was resently installed. Or you have recently intalled or replaced your garbage disposal. Make sure the plug was punced out where the drain from the dish washer connects. If the plug is not punched out you will be useing the same water over and over agian.

Dishwasher does not drain, instead drains through overflow valve in sink. No apparent clog seen.

Usually the sink connection is not an overflow, it is the main drain from the dishwasher. It is more likely your s-bend is blocked under the sink- try putting a bucket under it and unscrewing the u-shaped piece and cleaning out (remember don't wash it in that sink while the pipe is off)

Water backs up to the dish washer from the sink .

Check the drain hose under the sink. It should have a high loop an upside down "u" like a hill the water can't climb to get from the sink to the dishwasher. That is where I'd start. Good luck.

Dishwasher drains into sink

As background, the dirty water typically goes from the dishwasher to a small tube within a tube, and that goes to the disposal. This ensures that your dishwasher does not back up in the event of a clog.

The problem is likely that the tube that links the thing you see next to your faucet to the disposal is either totally or, more likely, partially blocked.

I recommend taking the entire flex pipe off and inspecting. In my case it was about 80% blocked, so a simple test whereby water was pored down failed to show the issue.

Once I took it apart and gave the tube a plumbing version of an angioplasty all was well.
