Adjust your water level float if you have one or turn your inlet for water up higher.

When I flush thenwater fills to the fill line and slowly keeps on dripping over the top of the flush valve tube.

I would ckeck to see where water fill line is inside toilet tank and then adjust flush valve to try to get it to shut off at this point. Not knowing whether your toilet still has original flush valve it is hard to tell you how to fix it. If it has float mounted on rod to flush valve there is usually a set screw on the top of the flush valve in the center. Turn this screw clockwise to make valve shut off sooner. Try to set it so that water shuts off when it is at fill mark. If float is mounted on brass float rod you can support rod closest to flush valve with left hand and carefully bend rod down a little with your right. This will cause flush valve to shut off sooner. If the seat is worn to badly in flush valve you will need to replace it.

My toilet fills very slowly and only half way

There are multiple things to diagnose on a problem of this nature. I will give you a starting point, and you can work from there. If you need further steps, let me know. It may be something as simple as debris caught in the diaphragm of your fill-valve. This is not uncommon. The top portion of your fill will pop off, but you must shut water to the tank off first, before removing the cover. Underneath the cover, you will see a black rubber diaphragm. Remove this diaphargm, and slowly crack open the shut off valve just enough to start water flowing. If you notice any debris come out, your problem is solved. Reassemble the fill-valve, turn water back on. If this is not the problem, Your fill valve may just be bad. They are relatively inexpensive. However, before buying a new fill valve (assuming that step one did not solve this problem for you) Turn the shut off valve back off. and remove the supply line going to the toilet. Get a bucket and aim the supply line into the bucket. If this is not a flexible supply line, this step will not work. However, if it is flexible, point it into the bucket and turn the shut off valve on. If you have adequate pressure at this point, it is definitely your fill valve inside the tank. If there is not adequate pressure, it starts getting a little more complicated to diagnose. However, I can still walk you through those steps as well, but start where I recommended, as this is most commonly the problem.

Toilet will not flush

It sound like you have debris caught in the fill valve. Remove the top where the washer is and put your hand over it and slowly turn the water on to flush the fill valve. Replace the washer with a new one and then replace the top.

If you have the old ball and **** style, replaceing the diaphram is harder so I would recommend replacing it with a fluidmaster fill valve. Hope this helps.

Usually, there is a diaphram located at the needle valve that can be removed and cleaned and or replaced. If you know you have grit in the water, then you are right, that will cause problems with the fill valve not fully closing.

Toilet tank fill valve sprays water towards lid

Hi bpmorr1,

It may be that the fill tube has come disconnected . It runs from the top of the fill valve to the overflow. The overflow is the tube that runs up the middle of the tank. The fill tube runs from the top of the fill valve to the top of the overflow tube. Kohler has a little clip that can sometimes come undone and cause spraying.

If that doesn't do it, turn the water off to the toilet and take off the tank lid. Partially open valve ( Slowly). Locate where spray is coming from. If it is in the area on top of the fill valve then yes, buy anew one. ( Fluidmaster )

Please rate this response and good luck, Phil
