Automatic to a point,, its only if the processor isnt recgonised you need to configure the clockspeeds, this can be done via the Jumper on the pain board or via the cmos if it boots..

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Overclocking

There are many issues to consider when overclocking and the first is to be sure that you have extra cooling for your processor. On this motherboard I do not recommend overclocking but since ASUS says that it can be done I will try to give you some places to get information on your A7V880 system. If you do not have your user's manual, you can go to the link below and download one.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_A/A7V880/#download . Leave the OVER_VOLT1 jumper on the motherboard on the default of pins 1 & 2. Refer then to section 2.4.5 on pages 2-21,22 of the User's Manual for Jumper Free configuration overclocking settings. In BIOS Setup I suggest a CPU Multiple of 10 or less. If you choose to use the AI Overclock Tuner instead, a setting of [Overclock 20%] or less would be best. The VCORE Voltage setting will depend on the specs for the CPU that you are using. If you don't know leave it at Auto. As I said before, overheating of the CPU is a problem in overclocking and you can monitor the temperature via the Hardware Monitor. Refer to section 2.5.6 on page 2-26 of the manual. Modern cpu overclocking normally does not exceed 20% safely unless you are willing to spend a lot of money on liquid cooling and frequent replacement of damaged processors. I would be interested in hearing whether you decide to overclock or continuing with your present settings.

HP Pavilion Media Center PC not detecting memory in slots 3 & 4.All memory works in slots 1 &2.Memory is all the same.

Info from the manual:

Memory configurations

You can install 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1GB DDR SDRAM DIMMs into the DIMM sockets using the memory configurations in this section.

• Install only identical (the same type and size) DDR DIMM pairs

using the recommended configurations.

• Make sure that the memory frequency matches the CPU FSB

(Front Side Bus). Refer to the Memory frequency/CPU FSB

synchronization table on the next page.

• This motherboard does not support double-sided 16-bit DDR DIMMs.

• Do not create a three-DIMM configuration in dual-channel mode. The
third DIMM is ignored in the dual-channel operation.

ECS P4IBMS Motherboard CPU Voltage Jumper Settings

I don't believe that there is a P4 motherboard that needs jumper setting to specify the CPU voltage. This used to be common for Pentium & Pentium II motherboards, & some Pentium III motherboards. But I have never seen a Pentium 4 motherboard that require this kind of setting.
Besides, I checked the motherboard's manual & I saw that there is a sub-menu in BIOS labelled "Frequency/Voltage Control". This should be the place where the CPU voltage should be set, & on most motherboards, CPU voltage & frequency are automatically detected.

The Motherboard should automatically detect the type of CPU. Mine did. I started off with a dual core and went to a quad and did nothing. After replacing with the new quad core the CPU was automaticaaly recognized at start up and it required me to do nothing.

Who to overclocke my motherboard'z FSB or my processor?

Hello.
It is not save for your system making it work faster by overclocking it.
Some times it works fine just using the right cooling methods, but some times its leads to system freezes, crashes and even to permanent processor damage.
So i advice you to keep that in mind.

If you want to proceed anyway.
- In newest computers you will find an option to set the processor speed to automatic( system recognize the cpu speed) or manually, in the last one you hve to set the RATIO( Processor speed divided by FSB speed), this means:
- The FSB of your P3 Motherbord (133 Mhz) x 7.5(ratio)= 1Ghz
- In older motherboards the speed option is set using jumpers
configuration in the Board, inthat case you will have to use the motherboard manual( some boards have printed tables) to show you the config.
Note: if your motherboard doesn't show you the RATIO you need is because it doesn't support that speed.

Good look.
