Question about Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbook Computer

Open Question

I have an inspiron mini 10v. I'm using it for about 30 minutes and it starts to malfunction. for example when I'm typing it doesn't matter what key I press the letter will be typed with out me pressing the q button. I shut down / restart the computer and and it makes a loud beeping noise and the screen stays black for about 2 minutes and then I'm able to login. And the same thing happens over again each time with all the applications.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Do a system restore to a point previous to the power failure shut down. It sounds like the abrupt shut down glitched the system.

If it is still under warranty just call Dell and have them send a replacement keyboard. If not, either try cleaning her laptop keyboard or just pick up a new one off some place like ebay for about $10.00 with free shipping.

Where is the serial number located on the dell inspiron mini?

On my Dell Inspiron Mini 10v it is located under the battery on a small white sticker. The format of the number is CN-******-*****-***-*****-***. You can get the service tag which is also identifiable to the computer by opening a command prompt and entering 'wmic bios get serialnumber'.

Hope this helps

My Dell inspiron mini 10 is just over 1 year old not used very much at all, last week for no reason there is no display on the screen, I tried to reboot on battery power and ac no luck. Thanks Frank.

There are 3 mini 10 models sold by Dell. The Inspiron 1010 (Mini 10), Insprion 1012 (Mini 10) and the Insprion 1018 (Mini 10v). Depending on which model you have, you can try to connect an external monitor and see if you get a display. The 1012 and the 1018 have a 15 pin VGA plug on the left side of the laptop and the 1010 has an HDMI jack for video. If you get a display then your LCD display is bad and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like 1 of your keys is stuck down or faulty.
turn off, turn the laptop upside down and GENTLY tap the keys, run your fingers over all of the keys and gently shake.
Lots of bits can get stuck under the keys and cause this type of problem, a can of air(air duster) works well also

Trouble see full page websites on netbook

The limitation is your inbuilt LCD screen resolution (1024 X 600) on the Mini 10v.
You could upgrade to a Mini 10 with 10.1 inch HD display (1366x768) WLED but it would be quite expensive.
The simple solution is to use an external monitor.

Hope it helps.
