Not able to use Powerpoint 2010 in slideshow mode on the 2nd monitor. tried everything, 3 hours with geek squad, 3+ hours other technical help, following all Microsoft help instructions, etc. before I call microsoft directly - and anyone help with this known problem? is it a targus issue?

I just posted a message about my Targus docking station, and I paid with credit card. BUT the message did not take my edits and corrections to the correct model number of Targus that I"m working with.

The correct model number I typed in was Targus USB 2.0 Docking Station with Video ACP51USZ. T

he message posted with the incorrect model number.

another comment now that you know I"m working with the

Targus USB 2.0 Docking Station with Video ACP51USZ

I tried your solution. right click, etc.

brings up Intel Graphics & Media control Panel.

when I clikc on Multiple displays, it won't let me whange Operating mode or primary display.

WHen I click on MOnitor/TV settings, it says that is not supported.

The problem happens ONLY when in Powerpoint SLIDE SHOW or READing mode, not when jworking with powerpoint for other tasks.

Also, I can use presentation mode with 2 monitors, BUT ONLY if my laptop monitor is doing the presentation and the large monitor is showing my speaker notes.

MOnitor Freezes if I ask it to use large monitor (Samsung 12.5") as primary for presentation and laptop display for speaker notes.

    a very selective problem.

I look forward to your reply, since the first solution did not fix the issue.

    Thank you very much

when is a good time. I'm on East Coast.

    here's more on the situation:

1.The correct model number I typed in was Targus USB 2.0 Docking Station with Video ACP51USZ. I made that edit and it did not take in my original posting.

    2. I had tried everything the first reply suggested (from Darklord1)

I have spent about 5 hours on phone already with various technical support, plus my own time!

This includes 2.5 hours with Best Buy Geek Squad, where I let them take control of my computer. Nada for solution. Repeated mostly what I had already tried.

I'm going out today to get an hdmi cable that will connect directly from the samsung monitor to the sony laptop, bypassing the targus docking station.

The cable that came with the Samsung monitor was only for connecting to RGB port, and that didn't work.

This is a very selective problem with Powerpoint 2010:

The problem happens ONLY when in Powerpoint2010 SLIDE SHOW or READing mode, not when working with powerpoint for other tasks.

Also, I can use PPT 2010 "Presenter" mode with 2 monitors, BUT ONLY if my laptop monitor is doing the presentation (set as the primary monitor) and the large monitor is showing my speaker notes.

MOnitor Freezes if I ask it to use large monitor (Samsung 12.5") as primary monitor for "Presenter mode" and laptop display for speaker notes.

    a very selective problem.

Geek Squad experimented with changing the resolutions, etc etc. NADA.

I'm hoping to get a solution before I call microsoft

Check your monitor settings for applications. Make sure you do not have that set to lock position of applications. Normally you can set it to lock an application to a specific location on the screen. As far as the computer is concerned both monitors should be one big screen to it so if you lock an applications position on the screen then it can not be moved. If it was locked all you should have to do is unlock it, set the application to window mode then drag and drop the slide show to the other monitor. If these settings are correct then yes your problem is with the Targus. Take it out of the loop by connecting the second monitor directly to the computer and using the FN+F4 key combination to activate the second monitor. You may have to press this combination a couple of times as there are usually 3 settings. 1 - Main monitor, 2- External Monitor, 3 - External and Main monitors together.

Thats cause the monitor settings is off.. Right Click on your desktop and select the graphis settings tab.. Now What you have to do is connect the second monitor and in the options on the graphis setting Select Dual Display ,, Use second monitor as an Extension Or you can use Clone Choice is yours..

An Alternative method is to click start then control Panel Then display,, This will take you to these settings as well

Or

Right Click Desktop Click properties,, Display , Settings , Advanced (or something like that tiddle around till you find Dual Display And Primary and secondary Monitors)..

Its there you just need to set the second as A Dual Display Or clone..

Rush to claim your warranty, the only thing you should do first is make sure that the input signal is OK: Hook up any laptop to any other monitor, then immediately (i.e. without changing what the computer is showing) hook it up to your monitor.

Another option is that you have a faulty cable. If it is part of the monitor, the warranty will cover it. If it can be detached from the monitor, borrow another cable to see whether that is the faulty piece.

Samsung external monitor turns on briefly then goes black

Most likely it is a fault with the external monitor, either an inverter circuit board or the CCFL lamp.
To confirm if the laptop video card is faulty, connect another external monotor to the laptop and if the monitor is OK then it confirms the Samsung monitor is faulty.

I have a rather new Samsung Syncmaster 2070

You neeed to connect the monitor to another PC to rule out the monitor as being damaged. If the monitor checks out good, the video card on your PC may be the problem. Does your motherboard have on-board video? If your not sure, can you give me the make and model of your PC tower?

it must be the drivers your using for the monitor. Have you checked the pins connector are all straight. as bent pins will cause this.

HOW DO I HOOK MY SAMSUNG SYNCHMASTER TO MY COMPUTER? I HAVE THE DVI CABLE CONNECTED TO BOTH AND IT KEEPS SAYING CHECK SIGNAL?

Hi,

Prior to attaching the SynchMaster and if there is another monitor, pls try lowering the Screen Resolution of your Display Properties. It may also be necessary to lower down the Screen Refresh Rates. In some video card, you may have to activate Twin/Extended view or enable the use of a second monitor assuming that your regular monitor is connected to the standard 15pin VGA and that the Samsung would be the 2nd monitor using the DVI.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
