There is a little switch on the usb stick. Move the switch over and it sets it to writable.

How to remove the write protection in my USB stick flask drive?

Usually usb sticks don't have a write protect option. But some models that do have that option. Look for a small switch on your usb stick.

Hope this helps!

How can i unprotect my kingston data traveler 4gb usb flash drive? i cannot save data and when i reformat it it said it is in write protect.

if there is a switch on the side that changes colour from white to red that is the write protect, you may also have reached the capacity of writes to the card and this is also why it is saying write protected as it cant write to it anymore. These flash drives do have a high amount of writes for its life, but if you have been using it as a memory booster for vista or win 7 then those read and writes will soon mount up.

How to remove write protection from 8gb pen drive. I have installed many softwares but it shows ''Disk is Write protected''. Please help to solve this problem.

ok on the pen drive itself,, is a small switch with a lock on it at one end,, and an open lock on the other.. Its a small switch,, usually at the sides or back of it.. just push the switch in the other side to unlock it..

if there isnt one..

Regarding the write protect error, I believe its a common symptom for fake USBs. These are ones which say they have large capacity, but the seller placed a much smaller capacity chip. In your case, its possible that the pen drive's REAL capacity is only 256MB! Even the OS is fooled into thinking its a large capacity USB drive.

I saw some Sony branded USB's with a capacity of 32GB a few months ago. They are obviously fake.. but I do wonder how many people fell for them.

you can try formatting the drive ,, by
  • start
  • computer
  • right click on removable disc (your drive)
  • click format
well I hope that helps you out.. Other than the above there isnt much more that can be done..

It has a tiny lock/switch on the side. Move it up or down to turn off/on the write protection.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB USB plugged it, light on, but shows an empty file in windows with capacity of 0bytes Also shows a CD drive (the one that U3 runs) which says nothing is in disk drive.

It is likely an issue with the filesystem. The FAT filesystem gets easily corrupted. If that's the case, reformatting it with FAT32 should help. But remember - reformatting erases all the data, so don't do it if you have anything important on the drive!

The flask drive was write protected. I can't save files nor delete files.

there may be a small lock /nob which help us to lock and open this card. if not look there it means your flack drive is out of work. and some time virose do this scan it.
